Question about Whirlpool GBD307PDS Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Whirlpool GBD307PDS Double oven stopped working.

Oven is just under 4 years old.
Heard beeps (short-long-short-short-short).
Went to look and found:
Display doesn't work.
Top oven light turns on when door opened, but bottom doesn't work.
All buttons cause a beep/beeps, but only the "light" button seems to work.
"start" button causes the full beeping pattern (short-long-short-short-short).

Cycling the breaker didn't seem to help (always got beeping pattern when turned on).
Then after having it off for a couple weeks, I opened it up, got the control board out, cleaned the contacts with alcohol (noticed that one that had a plastic enclosure around it was particularly corroded and cleaned it the best I could given the lack of room to get anything in there). Then I got all the connections back on and as tight as I could and powered it up and it worked, but for only about 20 hours, at which time it gave the beeping pattern again and the same behavior as before.

A whole solution would be nice, but at the very least does anyone know if the beeping pattern is a fault code that could be useful?

I am having the same problem. I had my electrician come in and check all the connections and it worked for about two weeks and then stopped again.

i have the same problem, so i will attempt to change the control panel board. The first time this happen, i cleaned the connections and it worked for 8 months. I tried cleaning and reconnecting again without any luck.

I have the same problem. Hmmm . . . sounds like my next purchase will NOT be a whirlpool. Barely five years of operation, and it looks as though I will have to replace the "motherboard". My Whirlpool side-by-side fridge just had to be repaired as well. Again, five years old. I'm seeing a pattern.

The beeping sound is a fault code. Problem is it isn't listed. In either the top or bottom oven panel there should be a service sheet. The codes are located on this service sheet.

Hello Diana,
Their are a few things that should be checked. I know its going to be tough to check on a built in double wall oven but one thing that needs to be checked is if their is 240 volts ac entering the oven(i know the breaker is ok) but the connection at the back of the oven can burn, then the proper voltage wont enter the oven.
Another thing is a high limit thermostat thats inside of the control panel, need to checkif it has blown.
Last thing i can think to check is if 120 volts is at the clock, if not 120vac that explains the blank display

Whirlpool Gold double oven - started beeping then all lights on the control panel went out. Reset the circuit breaker which makes the oven beep but still have no lights. Oven will not operate.

I was just looking over a manual for a late model double oven. Their is a thermal limit going into the controls that will open if the temp rises enough to harm the controls. They look like this one.2605a73.jpg That kills all power to the control and you will see nothing on the display.

This manual will give an idea where to look:

Throwing the breaker .had the oven for 6 weeks working fine now turned on the upper oven and the breaker threw. the house/wirting is only 10 years old?

Hi,
You have a problem in the oven not in the house wiring...you probably have a bad element in that oven and it is shorted...this throws that breaker when you turn it on...

Hi- Wow - Honestly wish i had good news, but this is a little different critter. The touch membrane is connected to control board by a ribbon tape with a whole bunch of little contacts that can become corroded, affecting proper function. Display failure is usually a control fault, however, and unfortunately this board is one of the most expensive to replace. - Bravo on not using the 'self-destruct' function.-  The control still routes all the power through it's circuits, and failures under normal use are not uncommon.  Best option is a service call from a good tech in your area. This is a tricky one to diagnose. Find out cost to fix before repair.  Let me know if this info helps ya, have more if needed- Thanks-  Ed

Whirlpool glass door exploded in my face! A serious defect!

I would go to a Lawyer unless you have a serious voltage problem. Whirlpool makes pretty good appliances. To have probems with all of them is very unusual. Look for a comon problem. You have not stated your outher problems. I have heard about oven glass breaking with no reason.

For some reason I get the same error code every time we have a power outage. If you push and hold the "lower off" button for about ten or 15 seconds it will unlock and reset. Hope this helps.

I fixed my problem by disconnecting the control board, cleaning all the contact points (including the ribbon cable) with alcohol and reconnecting everything as tight as possible.
I did notice that one of the contacts had become very corroded, so I scrubbed this one for a while. Prior to this I had done some selective unplugging and replugging (ribbon cable in particular) to no avail (each of these attempts powered on to beeping and no display).
Not a fancy solution, but it did work!
