Re: my mp3 player will display "firmware problem"

Booting straight to the Recovery menu
I decided to open it up to check out the hard drive to see what kind I would need so I could try replacing it. The data plug that attaches to the hard drive itself was partially unplugged. So, I pushed it back in all the way, put it all back together again, and turned it on just to see if something different might happen. (I had it set in my mind that the hard drive failed and I would need a new one, so I didn't expect anything different to happen) And to my surprise, it worked just like new again.

Before you go off and invest in a new hard drive, I suggest opening it up and make sure that plug is in all the way. Since you'll be opening it up in any case, it wouldn't hurt.

No Display

The firmware is screwed for some reason.. Just upgrade the firmware and all will be fine.
PS: Read your manual properly before upgrading the firmware.

No display

i think that a good firmware update would repair the problem
Make sure it's the good model and download the latest firmware
download it
connect your mp3 player and run the firmware updater
that should reset your mp3 player without erasing your song and display should be ok
Good luck

Go to the product's website and download the latest fireware available for that model. Then install it. The provider will give the instructions.

Target Base MP3 Player file system error

Unfortunately, the firmware upgrades will not usually result in reloading all the system files from the original firmware. If your unit was displaying "File system error" right out of the box, then your player was probably previosuly-owned. If it is a new problem, a key system file could have been deleted manually or through a basic incompatibility with Windows Media Player 11. At any rate, you will need to go ahead and replace the player if the firmware upgrade does not resolve the issue. Does target even have a firmware update on their website?

File system error

File system error is almost impossible fix - you can try updating the firmware (if you actually have an iLo, it will be impossible to update the firmware - manufacturer no longer supports)

Player spontaneously shuts off (battery is charged!)

Hi. I recommend a firmware upgrade. You can obtain this by doing the following: 1) Connect the player to your computer with the USB cable. 2) Wait for "idle" to be displayed on the player screen. 3) Double-click the file that you downloaded from the Rio website. The update should take approximately 30 seconds to load. and here is the link for your firmware upgrade file. Good Luck

Display don´t work, the back light, radio, mp3 player work perfect, a change the battery but is the same....

You can try getting the firmware/drivers here - Installing those over everything might solve it, but most chances that it won't. You probably won't find anyone that would fix it for you(techs don't like wasting time working on these little things), so think if you wan't to risk loosing the functionality you have now before opening it up.
