Question about Magellan RoadMate 700 GPS Receiver
I came across some other posts about this subject that DanEz007 addressed. He said if there is no sound at all get back to him and he would tell how to fix it. I'm searching for that answer.
I FINALLY CONTACTED THE FOLKS AT MAGELLAN AND GUESS WHAT? YOU CAN FIX PROBLEM WITH SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR A PRICE OF COURSE. THEY HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT FIRMWARE V 3.32 UPDATE DESTROYS AUDIO FILES ON SOME UNITS. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON NEW FIRMWARE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WILL POST ON THEIR SITE WHEN READY. I ASKED WHY THEY DID NOT WARN CUSTOMERS THAT UPDATE MAY HARM AUDIO ON SOME 700 UNITS AND NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY HAD NO ANSWER. SUPPORT FROM THIS COMPANY IS ATROCIOUS. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I have the same loss of audio problem on my brand new 700. It went out briefly BEFORE I downloaded the firmware 3.32. It came back later, first with the second user setting, then it returned across the board. So I knew there was a little intermittent bug in there.
Now, with the Vers. 3.32 firmware downloaded, the sound never came back, and it seems that it is not coming back at all so far, and I've tried powering it off and on again several times with the 12v as well as the AC adaptor cord. Still looking for a secret menu on that.
