I can't delete the files inside the f 40,

This error usually happens when the firmware has been corrupted or deleted. The easiest way to correct this is by updating the firmware. You may also try to restore the firmware data by following the steps below.

1. Connect the gigabeat to your computer using a USB cable.

2. Start Explorer on the PC.

3. Open the folder in which the gigabeat room is installed.
--> The folder in which the gigabeat room is installed can be opened by clicking [Start] [All Programs] [TOSHIBA gigabeat room 2.0] [gigabeat room 2.0
Program Folder]. Usually, the folder will be found in C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\gigabeat room 2.0.

4. If you can't find the folder, please go inside the gigabeat then click on [tools], [folder option], go to [view tab] then select [show hidden files and folders].

5. Now, inside the gigabeat root, copy a folder named "GBSYSTEM" located in the folder that was opened in Step 3.

6. Use "Safely Remove Hardware" and disconnect the gigabeat.

To transfer music files to your gigabeat, simply connect it to the PC via USB cable. A gigabeat window will pop up on your screen and will direct you to WMP 11 (make sure to click the "Complete" button, or it will not take you to WMP 11). Once you're in WMP 11, assemble the list of music you wish to transfer and press "Sync". The program will automatically begin transferring data to your gigabeat.

You have to clear the play list, until then the list will always appear in the player.

Just install your software that came with your Gigabeat. After installation please run the following program. Start/Programs/Toshiba Gigabeat Room/Formatting Utility for Gigabeat. This will place all the files back in the hard drive. Please do not format this unit from My computer to the drive letter. hi had the same problem with mine, you must use the dock and have the connections setting set to media player it will sync then

The EASY but Time consuming way (If you Only hagve USB 1), is to just RESET the unit.
The manual will run you through it, and reload.
I have both Gigabeat Room, and Win/Player 11, and have reset and reloaded a few times.
Just take some time (Specially with Gig Room)

Ok, I figured out a solution on my own.

Remarkably simple - all I did was reformat the player again and then reinstall windows media player.
