First, I would advise you to not power up the console if it's getting hot. When the console is running, can you see the small fan on the back spinning? If not, you can probably buy an external cooling fan like this one.

This will act as a surrogate cooler to replace the original fan, and should allow the console to stay cool enough to remain on.

Gets hot and shuts off cleaned vents with sweeper

Let me try and help you out sparrow631,

Turn your Wii on and reach behind it to see if the fan is working. It may be a little difficult to find/feel but you should notice it. Make sure it is working. If it is not, you will either have to send it in to Nintendo to be fixed OR buy a aftermarket fan unit (Wii accessory) - you can find them in stores, on amazon, and other web sites..

Some other tips you can try is,
- Keep the Wii vertical. If its horizontal, the Wii will actually absorb the heat on the hard surface and radiate back into the Wii - causing it to over heat.
- Make sure you are in a well ventilated area.

Hope this helps.

I put new batteries in, all four light flash four times and then it shuts down.I pushed the little red button next to the batteries and all four lights flash fout times and then shut down. Can this be...

What shuts down? The Wii Remote?

If so, sounds like they need to be synced to the Wii. When the controller looks for a connection and doesn't find it, they will shut down to save battery life.

You need to turn on the Wii with the Wii Remote [press power button on the Wii remote that is working] then click into the Wii Menu by clicking the HOME button on the Wii remote. You will then click to Wii Remote Settings. From there, click RECONNECT on the Connection menu. That will instruct you to press 1 & 2 on each remote to sync them.

Wii games keep restarting after very few minutes

Sounds like something might be wrong with the fan or whatever keeps it cool. Because i know some systems will shut themselves down if they get too hot. This acts like a safety measure. That or your power button is stuck.

Wii Remote Problems!!

This is factory default with the Nintendo Wii, Try simply removing the batteries when done, OR!, which I do, is hold my hand over the top of the WiiMote and then press the power button, this prevents the Wii from getting the remote's instruction to power down, the remote thinks the Wii got it and then shuts down. Good Luck!

Shutting down

Make sure it is not sitting on the floor/carpet etc. Also make sure it's sitting up right and not layting flat. Make sure it is sitting in it's silver stand. If the vents on the bottom or back of the wii are covered in any way it will overheat. Also, you might blow out the dust from the bottom vent.
