Question about Philips MCD702 Shelf System

Open Question

Picture freezes during DVD playback

I'm having a problem with my MCD702 system. While watching a DVD, sometimes the picture and audio will freeze, sometimes for a second, sometimes for a few seconds. The problem is intermittent and will happen at different times throughout the movie. CD's seem to play fine.

Philips MCD702 Shelf System no sound

It is possible that the amplifier had encountered a fault with a higher current drain which had triggered it to a protection fault condition. The fault can be with your output drivers. Please check for short on the outputs fitted for both the channels. Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes. Even a fault in the preamp stages that drives in high current into the output can shut the Amplifier. Sometimes this can be a noise which can be a HUM or HISS before the protect works. Faulty capacitors in these circuits also can cause similar issues and needs close observation. You need to confirm and replace the specific stages or outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board. Maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias or there is a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the amplifier comes out of the protect mode then check for short on the speakers.

Philips mcd 702 mini system the remote control stop working i put in new battery an still nothing how can i fix it?

well, a possible cause for this might be the oxidized battery poles on your remote control. You can try cleaning the poles with a light sandpaper to remove the oxidation and try again. It might help.

Not picking up dvd spin, but goes to no disc!.Can lacer be reslign.

This is what occurs when the mechanism that is responsible for detecting that the tray has been closed and the disc has to start spinning is faulty.
As you may not know, some players may have a small retractable rubber switch(which you may not see and you are advised not to tamper with) that the tray pushes or shifts while it is closing,
When this rubber is closed to a particular position or level by the closing tray, it gives a signal to the lens to start checking for a compatible disc if there is any inserted.
Whenever most people have this sort of problem like yours, it is usually as a result of that rubber moving out of position or as a result of a disconnection between this rubber and the mechanism that spins the disc.
In summary, this rubber is not performing the job which it should perform and as a result your disc is not spinning since the mechanism responsible for spinning is not receiving any command to do so.
The best advise you can get is for you to have a technician look at it and if it fixable, he should fix it for a small fee.
On the other hand, the spinning mechanism may be spoiled and so needs replacement.
Wish you luck in fixing your DVD and Please comment for more information. Thank you for using fixya.

I need to know the name/part number of the round central part that clamps a CD in place. This is a Philips MCD702 player which loads from the top. The part is a small plastic ring that goes around the...

Its just the CD tray holder, u usually can get one from another junk player (most are the same). I can tell you that you won't be able to order one from phillips (no aftermarket parts available). You would need to have a really expensive shelf system for the company to support a parts market. Most of these when they're broke they're tossed out as no parts are available. You can call Phillips and they can tell you yay or nay. But I would try an find a used on at maybe a thrift store or something for a few bucks

Cant help with diagrams but have you tried "freeze". Its a spray that cools components to see if they are breaking down thermally which does sound a little like it could be possibly. The cold component then rights itself when sprayed for a little while till it get warms again.

Best of luck
