Printer won't turn off

Check the power supply cords; make sure they are attached properly. If you are using a power strip, surge protector or any other device where the power supply cord is not plugged directly into a wall outlet, bypass them and plug the printer into a wall outlet; see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't work, remove the printer's power cord from the outlet and all the other cables that the printer connects to the computer to.
Wait 5 or 10 minutes for the printer's CMOS and RAM chips to power off completely.
After enough time has elapsed, plug only the printer's power cord into the wall outlet (do not hook up any of the communication cables in e.g. USB, or serial cables, or network cables.)
Then press the power "on" button.

If the error message is gone, power off the printer.
Uninstall the printer and all its programs from the computer.
Do a clean install and follow the procedures of hooking up the printer as though you are installing it for the very 1st time.

You may have to obtain firmware and/or software updates from HP on your specific printer.

You may also have to check with your OS vendor to make sure you have all the updates/service packs on your PC or laptop

I have a brand new HP Deskjet 3050. When first plugged in, it gives the error code OXC4EB841A (I can't tell if the first character is the letter O or the number zero). I can't install it or do anything...

The error is probably 0xC4EB841A. This is an internal failure of the printer. You can try to reset and power down the printer slightly differently then just pulling the power cord.

With the printer on, remove the USB cable, if in use, from the printer; I'll often remove this cable from the computer, as well. Open the front door of the printer and remove the ink cartridges. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer. Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet and then into the printer. Turn on the printer if it didn't come on. Wait until the printer warms up and then reinsert the ink cartridges. Make sure that the protective tape was removed from the cartridges. Close the access door and print a calibration page if you see a prompt for one. Scan this page.

Try to install the printer software and connect the USB cable to the computer and the printer when prompted to (if you are using the USB cable).

If the error returns, contact HP. A brand new printer will be covered by their warranty. (Depending on where/when you purchased the printer, you may be able to return it to the store for an exchange. This will depend on the vendor.)

I hope this helps.

New printer! No power cord. I have the power pack, but no cord to the wall. Printer is "HP C310a.

I believe this power pack takes a standard "PC" power cord.

If not, you will have to purchase one from HP. Before you do that, look very carefully through the packing materials to assure you didn't discard it. You might be able to get one from a electronics parts or office supply store in your area. New Printer? Check with the vendor where the device was purchased.

Need a cord to use the printer brand new with no cord

for power cords, a generic power supply cord should be sufficient, and if it is a usb cable, it needs to be a printer usb cale...one of those funny square ones with the contacts on the inside of it.

I have a brand new Epson CX4200 printer that I got this summer with my macbook before college. I got to school and the printer will not work. It keeps saying that there is a paper jam, except there is no...

Considering it has never printed properly. I would power down the printer and unplug the USB cable and power cord and do a complete re-install.

Go here to download an updated driver for your printer and operating system. The CD that came with the printer may have had an outdated driver for your operating system.

Follow the Quick Install Guide . Make sure the printer was properly unpacked and all tape and packing material were removed. Install the new driver and when prompted connect the USB cable. Follow the Guide and on-screen instructions.

Trust this resolves your problem.

My hp officejet 4355 printer gives a msg turn off then turn on

Leave Power Cord plugged in for now.
1. Disconnect any USB, Ethernet, or parallel cable
2. Press printer power button to turn off the printer
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Turn on printer by pressing power button
5. If the message is still displayed check to see what type of power cord your using. If it has a large rectangle power pack make sure the part number on the pack matches the number on the printer. ( if it doesn't match you need a new power pack)
(If you only have a cord continue step 6)
6. Disconnect the cable from the wall outlet and wait 1 minutes.
7. Reconnect the power and press power on the printer.
Watch to see if the same on/off problem is occuring.
If the printer remains ON you have too many devices using the one power board or surge protector.
If the printer turns off then the problem is the electrical socket
8. Move the printer to a power outlet it can use with no other devices connected.

If this doesn't fix the issue you will need the printer serviced with HP

Power failure

Unplug the power supply(the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached) from the printer. With the power cord plugged in to a known working power outlet in the wall and the other end securely plugged in to the power supply, check for voltage output. If still none, Lexmark may be able to send you a new power supply for free. You can contact Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK(1-800-539-6275).

Hey, my dell all in one printer 810 will not power on at all. I have measured the traffo into the printer and it reads 30vDV so it has power but will not start

Hi
Disconnect the unit completely from the AC outlet for 5 or 10 minutes, then plug it back again. It will works.
Also I suspect it may be a loose power switch, or a problem with the power supply.
If it is a USB printer that derives power through the USB cable and not from a seperate power cable, then check the USB cable. That may be the source of the problem if the cable is bad.
Try the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue...

Solution one: Press and quickly release the Power button
Press and quickly release the Power button ( ) to start a Power On/Off cycle. Do not hold down the button .
Press and quickly release the Power button
If you press and hold the Power button too long, the product might turn on and then off without restarting. If this happens, press and quickly release the Power button ( ) again.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution two: Check the electrical connections and outlet
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, or the power strip or surge suppressor.
NOTE: The power cord detaches from the power module. The term power supply refers to both the power module and the power cord.
Carefully inspect the power cord for visible damage.
If the power cord or power module shows any damage, contact HP to replace the power supply.
Disconnect the power supply from the back of the product.
Wait at least 30 seconds, and then plug the disconnected power supply into an electrical outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge suppressor.
If the green light (LED) on the power supply does not light up, contact HP to replace the power supply.
Reconnect the power module to the product.
Press and quickly release the Power button ( ) to turn the product on.
If the product still does not turn on, connect the product to an electrical outlet in another room, and then quickly press and release the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
If the product turns on , the electrical outlet in the original room caused the issue.
If the product still does not turn on , continue with the next solution.
Solution three: Check the USB cable
Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/c01896072.gif( chek the figure)
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
If the product turns on with the USB cable disconnected , replace the USB cable.
If the product still does not turn on , continue to the next solution.
Solution four: Check the battery
If your HP product has a battery, follow these steps:
Check the battery light. If the light is red, recharge the battery.
If the battery light is still red after recharge, replace the battery.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/c01468528.jpg( chek the figure)
1 - Slide the battery release slider in the direction of the arrow
2 - Remove the battery
Instructions for recharging and replacing a battery are available on the HP Web site.
Solution five: Replace the power supply
If you have completed all of the troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing a problem, contact HP to replace the power supply for your product.
Solution six: Service the printer
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
