camera turns on, i can view photos that i took before i dropped it but it won't show new photos on lcd screen. nothing else is different. what could have gotten damaged in the drop?

Try this...remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. Let me know what happened.
