Tuner and receiver seem to work ok. Using the tv option all I see is a horizontal white line. I can hear audio OK. Seems there's a problem with the vertical . Do not have any schematics. any particular component failure that causes this?

    Hi slinteriors;

    The only transistor i can locate on a heat sink is v409. On it is marked MX 2SB834.

    I cannot locate any data sheets or equivalent on the web.

    Can you help.

    Alternatively close to the v-size variable resistor is a 10 pin inline ic marked CD1031CS. (also attached to a heat sink).

    Any ideas?

    regards.

Verticle output transistor. It will be mounted to a heat sink. t should have Verticle stamped on the circuit somewhere near the Transistor. Locate the numbers on tht Tansistor and let me know what numbers and letters are, and i will post a link to where you can buy a replacement.

Loss treble using THX mode with BOSE acoustic mass speaker

What you are hearing is a combination of the programmed signal processing and equalization of THX mode plus performance limitations of the speakers.
Your only options would be to be either change your listening positions or the positions of the speakers, so that there is a direct and unobstructed line that is on axis from your ears to the speaker drivers. Or, you can disable THX mode.

Using only Stero speakers. Sound only from right speaker. Left not working. However if I select tuner (not tuned in) the speaker works. Diconnected wires numerous times. Any help would be...

Hello
Check its audio settings. If the 'balance' control is at its one extreme, one speaker of that side son't work. When you select 'tuner' the the set sutomatically goes to 'Mono' [according to selection]; and both speaker will work. Check if stereo option is activated in its audio option first. If not, select it to stereo, dolby digital or so what you want ot hear. If all selections are OK, and still the problem perists, its digital processing section should be troubleshooted. Actually this is not a user repairable option. Contact any experienced service personel or Panasonic Authorised Service Center at your town. OK.

No Picture but have sound

OK I got my first TV, first to repair myself that is, and I have no training at all but am kind of a tech dork wannabe. So I checked and I have sound but no signal through the TV tuner, so I hooked up my Zenith VCR to aux 1 and sound with signal appeared, the VCR tuner still works :) so I am leaning toward the TV tuner. It is visibly damaged, and I'm hoping it is as simple as a broken connection. I also noticed a vertical flash and pattern of horizontal lines when it is turned off (white). sooooo I push on.... help!!!!!!!!!!!!! :>}

Sound but no picture except for a couple of horizontal colour lines
Replaced the frame chip TDA8356, set now ok

Tv seems ok by static and now, no sound (or very faint)

The problem you're describing sounds like a tuner problem. BUT you say that you have the same problem with A-V input too. That's weird!!! Possibly the electronic TV-AV switching circuit is messed up and stuck in the TV (tuner) position. If this is the case you DO have a tuner problem and a switching problem too.
