My keyboard is typing we instead of e again sd instead of d.Pl help.

Your laptop may have a PS/2-type connector on the back (mine does) for attachment of a
PS/2-type mouse or keyboard. A workaround to your problem would be to plug in a
standard keyboard into this port, and use that until you resolve the problem with
your chicklet (standard laptop) type keyboard.

When you plug the keyboard in, performa an "Add Hardware" operation to prompt Windows to
find the new keyboard (under WinXP):
START > Control Panel > Add Hardware

My keyboard automatically typing letter y and apostrophe's..

Sounds like the keyboard might be bad. Run your fingers thru the keys in a sweepting motion and see if that stops the keyboard from continously typing keys on the screen. If that doesn't do it then its time for a replacement keyboard.

My keyboard isn't typing most keys

I would reset the bios by using the jumper in the cabinet. Then make sure you have the correct type of keyboard selected and if all of that does not solve the issue, replace the keyboard.

My keyboard letter types wrongly to type @ I have to press shift and 2

UK keyboards use a different key for @.
If you wish to change the keyboard layout, you can do this by right clicking on your taskbar and select "language bar". When this is done, right click on the keyboard symbol and select "settings". Change the default language (to UK) and your keyboard will type correctly.

2. Introduction
The Type 5C Keyboard to USB Adapter (P/N 5188) allows a USB compatible workstation to be connected to the
Server Control Switch (P/N 5185 or 5195). The adapter converts keyboard scan codes from the type 5C keyboard to
equivalent USB keyboard scan codes. The adapter also converts the mouse data to USB compatible mouse data.
The Type 5C Keyboard to USB Adapter can also be used in a standalone setup, where it is connected between a
Type 5C Keyboard/mouse and a USB based workstation.
3. Installation
3.1 Between Type 5C keyboard and workstation (standalone operation)
For all installations it is recommended that the equipment be powered off for system interconnection and/or changes
to a setup.
• Connect the port labeled To Type 5C Keyboard to either minidin8 connector on the Type 5C keyboard using a
straight through minidin8 cable (P/N 8002 or equivalent). If using a mouse, connect it to the other minidin8
connector on the keyboard.
• Connect the port labeled To Computer USB Port to any workstation USB port using a USB Type A to Type B
cable (P/N 4021 or equivalent). This type of cable is used for connecting a HUB or other device upstream to
another HUB or a host controller.
3.2 Between Server Control Switch and workstation (system operation)
For all installations it is recommended that the equipment be powered off for system interconnection and/or changes
to a setup.
• Connect the port labeled To Type 5C Keyboard to any Server Control switch CPU port using a straight through
minidin8 cable (P/N 8002 or equivalent).
• Connect the port labeled To Computer USB Port to any workstation USB port using a USB Type A to Type B
cable (P/N 4021 or equivalent). This type of cable is used for connecting a HUB or other device upstream to
another HUB or a host controller.
• Connect the video output of the workstation to the Server Control Switch video input connector using an
appropriate cable/converter for connector and sync conversion
• Connect and power on the rest of the Server Control Switch system per the appropriate installation instructions.
4. Technical notes
Keyboard
The Type 5C Keyboard to USB Adapter emulates a Sun Type 6 USB keyboard (P/N 3201273-01) and a Sun
Crossbow USB mouse (P/N 3703632-01). The Type 5C and Type 6 keyboards match in available keys, however
several keys are relocated on the Type 6 keyboard. The adapter appropriately maps the key codes generated to the
key legends on the keyboard (i.e. all keys work the way they are labeled).

Important Note Regarding Standby Operation:
USB supports a SUSPEND/RESUME capability that has various and incompatible implementations across differing
hardware platforms. This can affect the operation of the adapter if the workstation supports a low power or standby
mode with an incompatible implementation. Low power or standby mode is normally activated through a menu
selection (using the mouse) or by pressing the POWER key on the keyboard (upper rightmost key on both the Type
5C and Type 6 USB keyboards). For this reason, the POWER key on the Type 5C keyboard IS DISABLED when
using the adapter. In addition, it is important not to activate low power or standby mode through other means.
WHEN IN LOW POWER OR STANDBY MODE THE SYSTEM MAY NOT WAKE UP THROUGH
KEYBOARD OR MOUSE ACTIVITY, REQUIRING A HARD POWER-DOWN TO RECOVER.
In addition, the POWER key on the Type 5C keyboard does not have the capability to power-on a system as it
would when connected to a Type 5C compatible workstation (nor does a Type 6 USB keyboard have this capability
when connected to a USB workstation).
