Mine does that 2, you have a speaker that cant hold that much power being put in it. Get some bigger speakers. Or look at you wires and make sure there are not any crossed.

Marantz 4220 Power Switch Dear experts Some time ago when unit switched on cracking noises in speakers started. But now exept ligting up no sound is comming just little when volume turned up.What could...

The Amplifier was failing and that's why you were getting the crackling noise.

Most receivers have an Auto Protect that shuts the system down and goes into Protect mode at the first signs of failure or overheating, usually indication by 'Protect' on the display.

I'm presuming from your post that you never got any indication that the unit was shutting down to protect itself and has just failed, so I'm presuming that this facility isn't fitted on this model.

Depending on you Technical ability it could be an easy repair (replacing the complete PCB or some PCB components). Your only other solution is a visit to a service engineer.

My Maratnz SR4200 is coming up with a protect sign on the digital display. I have tried cutting off the ends of the wire to ensure dust hasn't tripped it and also am sure the wire has been entered...

Unplug all of the speaker wires. Switch it on. If it still says "protect" then the problem is internal within the receiver. If it stops going into protect mode with speakers disconnected, then the problem is possibly blown (shorted) and or incorrect speakers causing it to trip.

Friend, G is for GPRS and is displayed only when you are using GPRS. It means that when you poweron the phone is either sending/receiving emails thru GPRS. Switching off could be more serious than sending/receiving emails.

PROTECT DISPLAYED ON RECEIVER

This generally means you've got a short somewhere, and the received is trying to protect itself.

My suggestion is to disconnect all of your speakers at both ends, and reconnect them.

Most times this happens because a speaker wire is lose, and the positive and negative connections are touching each other, causing it to short out.

Sounds like a bad output channel is causing it to go into protect mode. Time to see a repair tech.

Vollume trouble

the system protect is usually displayed when a condition of short or shorting is occurring in the speaker wiring or the voice coil of any of your speakers.... thte circuit of you reciever is trying to protect itself and you from a very costly repair,,,so it you have another set of speakers try to use them and see if the condition still exists and if it does the problem is in the output section of the receiver,,,and if the protect no longer exists you have fixed your problem,,,good luck
