Hi Martin.
Can you explain exactly what you are doing when you get the eror messgae?
Are you copying from your HDD to the DVD?
Are you copying from the camera to the DVD?
Also what sort of DVD/RW drive are you useing?
Let em know and I will see if I can assist you.

Disk error 0280

Error 0280 on Hitachi mv350a DVD camera : It looks the dvd had bad spots that could not be read. After getting frustrated trying to get any info from Hitachi manuals and support, I just decided to try to extract the data directly from the dvd(fujitsu dvd-r disk). Since my DVD was not finalized I could not copy the files directly using Windows Explorer, so I tested several applications and here it's what worked for me: I downloaded isobuster (, and I was able to view the tracks on the dvd, then I used the "Extract" option to create an image directly from the faulty dvd and it created a couple of files with the extension .ibq. I checked these ibq files and two of them were huge, so I assumed those were my video data. I renamed these files from *.ibq to *.vob(isobuster has options to extract these "image files", but you need to register it first...), anyways I tried to open these new vob files with PowerDVD and they PLAYED JUST FINE :)! Finally I just used a DVD editor to load the new .vob files and I burnt a new DVD. I hope it will save you guys some time... Mihai from Romania :)

Editing videos taken from canon dc100 camcorder

I see here that . . .

"The DC100 takes 3-inch Mini DVD-R/RW discs, and like most of its competitors, can fit about 20 minutes of best-quality video on one. If you choose to initialize a disc for playing in a standalone player, the camcorder writes standard VOB files; if you initialize for future editability, it records in the VRO format. Windows Media Player can play the latter if you rename the file with an MPG extension, however the aspect-ratio information gets lost--that info is encoded into a separate file--so 16:9 video will get squashed into 4:3. "

Cnet Reviews.

Your videos are recorded in the common DVD format called MP2.
They have the extention .MPG so if you copy the video files to your computer, and change the end of the filename from VOB, or VRO to an MPG then your software can recognize it as the MP2 format that it is.

There is a Windows XP program, called Windows Movie Maker, it can open your video files and provide you with most of the video editing tools.

Edit and transfer to DVD

I use Handbrake ( ) to turn the minidvd files into Mpeg4 files. I have a canon dc 220 and I hook it up to my computer with the supplied USB cable. I then copy the files onto my laptop and use Handbrake to convert them to the mpeg4 format.

Error message - no supported files found on this disc

Hi there, I got the same problem.

All answers received are to finalize the discs or use Sony discs. Both were tried but nothing. I realize the camera was working Ok with Windows 2000 but that happened when I migrated to XP.

HAve you solved the problem as I see your post is very old.

Problem useing tdk dvd-rw

1. cleaning the laser lens with isopropilic alcohol and q-tip
2. Try the reset button on the bottom of the camera. Tilt your camera and look below the LCD Display Backlight button on the bottom edge of the curved portion of the camera. You will need a paperclip or tip of a ball point pen to push the recessed little button. Place the camera on a level surface and try again. We find that the camera is very sensitive to tilting, as it gets older.
3. Make sure you format format at was FAT not fat32
4. All you need to do is "Quick format" the disk with the CAMERA rather than the memry stick plugged into the computer drive.
5. For sony error c:1301 using mini cd's: there is a program that recovers data from cd's that works with disk that have this error. It called "cdroller" Homepage is :
6. just take the memory stick off and re-insert it lot of times.. just keep doing it.
