Question about Panasonic PT-50LC14 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Green light flashes 7 times on power-up then turns red (off).

This problem just started. When I turn the set on the green power light flashes normally about 7 times as if warming up but then turns red and the unit shuts off. Repeated attempts have the same result.

Thanks, but I don't think that's the problem. The light simply turns from blinking green to red (with no blinking) just like when the set is powered off. I had the same problem several months after I first purchased the set but the problem was so intermittent that I never called service. Back then when the set wouldn't start,I was always able to get it to stay on after four of five restart attempts. Now after dozens of tries no success.

I am still looking for a viable solution. I would like to have "ctf1800" weigh in on my issue. One of his solutions to a similar problem with the same model Panasonic TV was to replace the thermal fuse. I would like to have a bit more detail as to where this fuse is located, how to identify it and where I could get a replacement? Thanks.

  • lakeman Jan 23, 2008

Thanks for your comments but my online research suggests that the poor-bulb problem is pretty much isolated to the "13" model and that the bulb in the "14" model which I have was much improved.

  • lakeman Jan 23, 2008

Be patient with me - I'm not trying to trump your experience but rather apparently am not doing a very good job of explaining my problem. The "red" replacement error code indicator lamp located beneath the screen has never come on. When I say the green light flashes 7 times and turns red, I am talking about the light on the power (on/off) button that shows green when the unit is on and warmed up and that shows red when the unit is turned off.

Re-seat the Bulb about 5 times of nothing happens try to replace it with a new one and re-seat again. My final and last suggestion is send your tv to the service center for repair. hope this works.

good luck

There's a problem with the power connections inside your tv.. there might be some ICs that are burnt out that's why it turns off after starting up... you can have it fixed by a technician just to make sure.. they have the gadgets for that...

Ya thers class action law suit on that bulb your talking about it will go out after 3 mo pp say its reall bad

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/panasonic_lcd_tv.html

I read in the various forums that frequent lamp failure can be caused by a defective ballast. I have not seen the schematices for the TV but typically a ballast controls current flow in a lamp. If I understand your post correctly it sounds like you have had a lamp failure per month for three months. I would recommend that you contact Panasonic 800-211-7262 and see what they propose. I think there is a design flaw with this model and they may be taking care of the problem. I would expect that a repair to the ballast would be a shop repair. Please post what response you get from Panasonic.

call them alot pp say they give u free one cuse they knw better ok

You may want to check the airfilter for being clogged. That can cause the setto shut down. Clean the air filter then try it again.

You are going to need a new lamp for the tv.

No picture even if the power is turned ON.
LAMP indicator blinks red.
Please replace lamp with a new one.

Also on page 82 there is a list of error or warning indicators... So that can be a big help in finding the problem if there is more then what you first described.

  • Phil Taul Jan 22, 2008

Hey man can you change what you rated me because I did tell you how to fix the problem.

  • Phil Taul Jan 23, 2008

I am 90 percent sure your problem is the lamp. I mean the error codes even line up with that issue. If you wanna know where the fuse is check out the manual I provided a link too. But its not a fuse problem its a lamp problem.

  • Phil Taul Jan 23, 2008

Ok if you want your online research to trump my years of experience working on tv's go right ahead. This is actually a simple fix, error code says its a bulb... so you replace bulb and tv is fixed.

Hi

i dont know specifically whats wrong but the way you describe it as if warming up reminds me also of my moms tv back in 2000's

normally we had to had it checked out by a technician and found out that it was a busted chip inside the board.
i might say you are having that same problem since it has the red light indication that something is wrong.

i would suggest you do the same too. bring it too a service center and have it looked from an expert repairman. althought it may be a pain in the wallet, but the outcome overweights the issue.

hope this helps.

My playstation has the light trun green yellow flashing red light

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

I had this problem. I fixed it doing follow: hold volume keys together, so the indicator is flashed red and green (reset to default settings mode). Then press power button to turn the headset off. Then turn it on again and try to find the headset again from my phone. Then select "pair" from phone menu and typed "0000". The led stopped flashing and headset was connected. Before this my phone couldn't see the headset at all. Hope it will help you! (sorry for my English, I'm from Russia =))
