Keeps saying disk protect

Camera won't stop flashing disk protect with the disk

I too am having this problem. Consequently the camera is useless. I've tried new disks, unformatted ones to let the camera do it, all of the things you do with a recalcitrant dirve. How do you repair or replace the disk drive in the FD 90?

These old electronics tend to be tempermental, just like my old 1988 Nintendo....when the problem persisted, I held the disk slot open and went Nintendo-style on it (blow the dust out of the disk slot). That cleaned off the disk reader. I put the disk in, and it started reading the disk instantly.

YES..It works great with a "dirt blow-out" ! I tried several things before...checking the floppy "lock" tab, taping the open tab, looking for old Low Density disks, and switching back & forth from memory stick to floppy...blowing out the dirt worked instantly! I think these are great cameras, as long as I still have a floppy drive on my computer.

Eject memory card and flip the white switch. If that doesn't fix problem some cameras can add accidental deletion protection which first needs to be disabled

The message which you are facing while formatting your flash drive maybe be due to below reasons.
1) It could be due to virus. Try to scan your flash drive with your anti-virus and check.
2) Second reason would be when you connecting your flash drive it may include some autorun files which starts its own when you connect your flash drive and because that file is running it wont allow to be formatted, so try to delete all the files including in your flash drive and than try formatting.
There is right protect switch on many pen drives , a physical write protect switch which enables you to either allow writing on the disk or disallow writing on the disk.

All you need to do is toggle the right protect switch and you would be able to write files on your pen drive.

OK, I would try to go to Walmart where they have a known good reader for the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, and ask them to try to read it.
Or go to your local drug store that has a machine for printing photographs.

See if their computers do the same as yours. If not, then there's something on your computer that is keeping it from reading it easily.

Good luck on this one.

Chip wont format

there is a little white tab to the left hand side of the disk (as you look at te label side), slide it to the opposite direction of where it is, and try again.

The Write protection tab is in the lock position - it needs to be unlocked to transfer anything to it.
