Yes you can. just open the plastic casing to where it wont break then take the game out and replace it with another case. i had the same problem with my friends psp. some reason the tray opening to insert another game was out kind of and only 1 plastic case worked.

How to open case?

under the decals on ether side are four screws remove these and
separate the sides under these you will find white wedges that hold the case halfs together pull out these wedges and open the case. repair unit and Reverse the prosess to reassemble the unit. If you know how to work on electronics you may need to replace the electrolitic capacitors while the case is open. Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Im trying to play scarface for the ps2 on my original ps3 (60 gig) and the slow down is really bad. its so jerky i cant play any timed missions as the in game timer still runs at normal speed! HELP!

You should check to make sure the disc is in good shape and not covered by any deep scratches or scum. If the disc is shot then there is not much you can do to fix the slowdown sadly, PS2's are currently selling for incredibly low prices so the worst case scenario would set you back around 50 dollars.

Won't play games or dvds

Hello Eatpuds, hi, I could use a little info about your problem, if you cannot play any games, I assume that the PS3 does not or cannot read disk, if this is the case, I suggest you try cleaning the lens with a CD LENS cleaner, buy one on your favorite computer store, If you cannot play because you cannot see any display on the screen, check your cables, swap your cables from a friend who has a PS3, just to make sure. or you cannot play because the controls are not responsive, you may also swap controllers, or test a new one. Summary, just make sure that the lens, cables and controls are in good shape, test also your disk, they may be damage from scratches.

I dropped my psp while i was playing a game and now, when i play that particular game it hangs. i tried playing the other games saved in my memory card and they all work perfectly well i tried to reformat...

If you purchased the game from the PSN redownload it....If you are using a UMD then inspect the casing for the disc and make sure there isnt a piece of plastic broken on the casing, I had a game that had a piece of plastic that had broken off and lodged itself inside the casing and when I played it it scratched the disc so bad it wouldnt work

Singer 9410 Bobbin

Update:  Today I took my machine in to get serviced - they replaced the metal bobbin I was using with a plastic one, that was a little less rattley inside the bobbin case, replaced the needle with a new, universal one, and changed out the thread with something a little higher quality.  They also adjusted the spring holding the bobbin case slightly, and now it seems to work fine.  I'm not sure how long it will last, but for now I'm good.

Right speaker stops working

A couple of years later, but maybe this will be useful to someone:
1. Disconnect the cables (input, power, 2nd speaker).
2. Undo the two screws on the base of the casing.
3. The two knobs can be pulled off. Underneath there are two nuts that hold the spindles to the casing. Undo these.
4. The fabric cover is a push fit. Prise it off the front. If needed, use a (non-metal) tool that won't damage the plastic casing.
5. Under the cover, the two top holes contain screws - undo these.
6. Four screws hold the actual speaker to the casing. The two lower ones are slightly longer and also hold the casing together. Note this for reassembly.
7. You can now gently part the front and rear parts of the speaker housing.
8. To completely separate the parts, you need to disconnect the red and black wires that go the the speaker. The are push fit 'spade' type connectors - a tight fit, but removable.

My problem is similar - loss of left channel. I think the problem is in the headphone socket as wobbling it or inserting non-conducting objects can temporarily restore the channel. These sockets switch off the speaker when you plug in the jack, so I think the switch is faulty. I plan to desolder this part to inspect, repair, replace or bridge the connection and do without the socket.

Hope that helps.

Unreadable disc

i used to think firmware but that is a very rare case. try getting a new laser, if that doesn't work swap the motor that spins the disc around but mark where the screws are before you remove them. good luck!

Psp-lazer ain't reading the games

This link should help.

  • Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the UMD plays, the original PSP system may be the problem. If the UMD does not play, the problem may be isolated to the UMD itself.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Make sure the exposed UMD surface and plastic casing is not damaged[2]. Do not use if plastic casing is cracked, collapsed, or if foreign materials have entered inside the UMD enclosure.
