I called sandisk. You have to have service pack 2 on your windows XP and you have to have Windows Media Player version 10 or 11. One one of my laptops I had version 9 and it wouldn't work, I changed laptops and it works just fine.

It sounds like there is something wrong with your firmware...get a firmware upgrade done and that should solve the problems...its a common problems...

How do i get my craig mp3player to charge up if its dead

Hi
I have found a full manual for your machine here:
http://craigelectronics.com/manuals/CMP616F-IB-E0CS1-B0CV.pdf
and this may help you.
However if you check with this and are complying with its instructions, especially that the mp3 player is "Powered on", then there are several options for your problem.
First. The batteries have given up and will no longer accept a charge, in which case they will need to be replaced.
Second. The recharging circuitry inside your machine has broken down. It is unlikely that this can be repaired.
Third. The plug into your mP3 player is not making proper contact with the USB lead, obviously check this and if necessary replace the USB lead.
Fourth. Make sure that the USB port you are using is directly connected to the computer and not through a USB hub, unless that hub also has mains power to it. This is because the power loss over the cable length and hub itself can reduce the power supplied to a level that is insufficient to charge your machine's batteries.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

I have the yp z5 model and it wont charge and the comp. wont recognize the device either. im guessing i should replace the battery because all of the components inside are still intact.

Try to take apart the player and disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect, reassemble and try charging it over the USB cable. It appears that some people have had some success after full disconnection of the battery from player. Alternatively, try eBay for a new battery - there are plenty there.

Gc-940 whont chargs up

If you charge with the included USB plug, try plugging it into a different outlet and make sure you leave the comp on overnight, or have the USB port active for at least 2 hours without playing and uninterrupted.

If it still won't charge, take it back from where you bought it and ask for a new one.

The battery may show "full' but still not hold a charge, so that when you unplug it from your computer, it goes dead. I assume you hold down the power button for several seconds and it still doesn't power up? Most likely, you battery is defective.
