Bosch SHV4040UC Dishwasher continues to pump ONLY

WE had a back up in out sink last night. Today plumber came and cleared the pipe. When we had back up we plunged and this caused water to go into the dishwasher which was in the middle of a cycle at the time. Now the dishwasher keeps pumping only. No water is coming into the machine. Pumps out any water I toss in. I took of kick plate and did feel some water in this white tray. I have very little access to this try. I sopped up what little water I could touch with papertowel. My big question is, where is the float for the anti flood? Can I see it or feel it from the very front? Like I said, I have limited access. Only can fit my fingers in this tray up to my knuckles. Thanks in advance for you reply!

I have a Bosch dishwasher with the E24 error code. Did everything the entire thread has suggested and still no help. It's been -22 here the last few days, is it possible foe the drain to freeze? I tried...

This says it is 'the drain is blocked.' So most likely it is frozen from what you posted. You could heat some water and pour into the bottom of the dishwasher to try and thaw the freeze. Got nothing to lose.

My new Samsung dishwasher has a HORRIBLE smell

There are 2 possible explanations for this, either the dishwasher has a buildup of food particles and grease in the pipes and pumps and that is starting to decay. Get a dishwasher cleaner and run it through a cycle. You can find several different brands, Finish seems pretty popular, at your local grocery store. The other possible source of the smell is sewer gas backing up into the dishwasher. This happens because the waste water connection from the dishwasher is linked into the pipes under the sink after the P-trap. Take a look under your kitchen sink, locate the connection where the dishwasher wastewater pipe connects to the sink pipes leading to the main stack. Now follow the pipes from the sink drain down there will be a P- trap that prevents sewer gas from backing up into the house, your dishwasher connection should be between those two. If your P-trap is between the dishwasher conncetion and the sink drain then you are getting swere gas flowing into your dishwasher and this is what you are smelling. If this is the case have a licensed plumber come in and reconfigure the pipes so the P-trap is after the dishwasher connection and the smell will stop. It shouldn't take a plumber long and the parts are cheap. Hope this helps.

Sink backs up with water when running faucet, dishwasher does not drain, all pipes under sink clear

We had this problem and found out that the pipe leading away from the house was clogged. Have a plumber look (with a camera) down your clean out, and see if that is the problem. They can snake it from the clean out and clear out tree roots or whatever is the problem.

Dishwasher is draining through the vent cap at the top back side of my sink ??????

Sounds like you have a blockage in your drain pipe. run a plumbing snake down the drain and see if you can clear it, otherwise, i'd be looking for a plumber

I have a 2004-05 Bosch dishwasher SHU43C. The motor is running, but it is not pumping water. Is there a belt in this? What do I need to look at to check out this problem?

I just paid $200 because I had the same problem and couldn't figure out what the issue was. My problem was the water in the bottom of the dishwasher couldn't be pumped out completely because the disharge line was clogged (only a little) from food that backflowed into it from my sink. The repair man cleared that out and now it works like new. The ultimate issue is that I have a garbage disposal and the dishwasher discharge line goes directly into the pipe above the garbage disposal, so if food/water is in the sink, it can flow back towards the dishwasher. I have since taped the discharge line to the top of the sink to minimize the chance for food to flow back towards the dishwasher.

Just had bosch dishwasher installed by plumber but it is still not filling up with water. it works after we poor a pot of water in it.

Locate the hot water supply hose under the sink that connects and follow it over to where it will connect to the back of the dishwasher. Look for sharp bends in the hose. There should be a valve where the hose connects to the under-sink plumbing. Rotate that valve counter-clockwise to assure that it is open.

If the problem continues, the solenoid valve may have immediately failed. That valve is just behind where the hose connects to the dishwasher.

Good Luck!

Kenwood Slimline Dishwasher KDW8ST2A

I have a Kenwood Kdw8st2a and have been constantly plagued by the E4 overfill error.

Lifting the front of the dishwasher and tilting it backwards seemed to clear the E4 error only for it to come back after the next wash.

I found eventually that the connection to the U bend under the sink was too narrow and was almost blocked hence the dishwasher was not emptying properly.

I disconnected the dishwasher waste pipe and ran the waste into a bucket for about 6 cycles and it worked fine.

Eventually drilled through the kitchen wall and fitted a lower direct waste pipe to the drain. Overkill maybe buit it hasn't done an E4 since.

Pump won't stop draining

you will almost certainly have a build up of water in the base. remove the water and retry. check to see if limit switch is not sticking or has possibly gone faulty.failing this, your board is faulty.
