Question about Ubi Soft Petz: Dogz 5 and Catz 5 Compilation (008888682295) for PC

3 Answers

I just bought a copy of Dogz5 with Catz5 attached

I have tried multiple times to install the game on my computer & I keep getting the same error. The game fully loads onto my computer & when I double-click on the exe icon I get an error message saying the exe file has been renamed to Petz5~1 & to rename it back to Petz5 for it to work - yet the exe file name has not changed. I have searched my computer to check the name has not changed & it has not. I have even tried copying everything onto a folder on my computer & installing from there, but I get different error message saying not enough hard disk space. Does anyone have suggestions of how to get the game to load up? Do I need to buy another copy of Petz????

Thanks - but the main problem is still that each time I try to install Dogz/Catz from the cd is that the error message says the exe file name was changed when it hadn't. Any thoughts on how to fix this??

I guess I will have to see about buying another copy - eventually there has to be a cd out there that works!

Thank you - it worked - apparently we had changed operating systems & I needed to pick Windows NT instead of Windows 98 to get the game to work!!!

The exe name message comes up when the compatibility options are set incorrectly. Right click the desktop icon, select the compatibility tab and check what options you have set.

Dogz and Catz 5 both seem to have alot of problems! Disk space means you dont have enough room to copy it onto your computer, I would suggest deleting some downloaded things (nothing important though, you dont want to mess up your computer, lol)

Missing Toys and South Seas Island Problem

you need to delete the registery for it, i had the same problem, every item i tryed puting in my carying case would disapear and not show up tell i restarted the game, these are the steps:

go to start click Run

type REGEDIT in the run box and hit OK

now you need to find the Catz 5 or Dogz 5 folder and delete it, dont worry your game will still play, you will still have your pets, just all the toys will be reset

hope this helped

It doesn't load all the way

This has happened to me too. Okay what you need to do is go into Program Files > Ubi Soft > Petz 5 > Adopted Petz. There is probably a file in there with the name of a Petz that hasn't left it's mother yet. Delete that file - don't worry, you will not lose the baby - and try reloading the game again. It works for me every time.

Petz5 won't play or uninstall Plz help!!

First check if the cd is dirty, scratched or damaged. If this is the case then you can try polishing the scratches out with a soft cloth and liquid metal polish (only polish the side away from the foil/label and try to only polish the scratched area) don't worry about removing scratches completely - start with the worst, then try the disk again - it might just work. If this doesn't help then try the disk in another machine or another disk drive. if it now seems to work then although your drive may seem to work on other things it is probably getting tired. I am assuming that you purchased the game and have a legal copy. If not then that is likely to be the problem as the software protection will not allow you to play the game without the correct CD. If you downloaded the file for the Dogz part, try burning it to CD as an image file (Check your burning software for details) and try running the game with that in the drive. If that doesn't work, then you are able to disable the CD protection file yourself if you have purchased the game so you don't have to have a CD in each time you want to play. go to: and search for dogz or petz and download the appropriate crack for your version. find the install directory where the game is installed(usually c:\program files\ubisoft\petz) and then copy the crack into this directory, and say yes when it asks if you wish to replace the slightly larger file - now the game should work. Please ask for more details if you are unsure how to proceed with this and I am happy to oblige.
