Wireless network has disappeared !

I have a DI-634m and the Wireless NEtwork has suddenly stopped functioning and is not even listed on the "My Network Connections" list.

Whta could have happened ?

I've looked at the manual trying to reset, and I can't get even get into http://192.168.0.1/ which is the Setup Wizard URL.

I have internet connection through the D-Link box by wire to my desktop.

- Thanks, you've correctly interpreted my problem.

I can now get into the 192.168.0.1 site and have run the Wizard.

All seems fine until I get to this last pop-up window:
show_words(which_lang[WIZARD_COMPLETED_DESC]) Setup Completed show_words(which_lang[COMPLETED_GUIDE_DESC]) The setup wizard has completed. Click Back to modify previous settings. Click Restart to save the current settings and reboot the DI-634M.
The only problem now is that it won't let me click Restart (or Back for that matter). The only button it seems happy with is Exit which would be happy to let me discard the setting changes if I then clicked OK. I don't want to do that as I need to save the changes.

Any ideas ?

BTW, when I look at "available wireless networks" on my laptop - I don't believe mine is listed amongst the six listed - unless it's called Default ?

thanks
Bruce

Hi,

If I understand your post/description:
1. You have both wired and wireless clients tied to the DLink DI-634M router;
2. The 1st PC is a desktop that uses Ethernet connections to the DLink and is currently working;
3. You have another (2nd) PC (a laptop?) that is connect by WiFi to the router. This is not working now;

I think that your issue may have to do with the Wireless networking of your 2nd PC, i.e. if you can access 192.168.0.1 (DLink DI-634M) from the 1st PC that is wired.

Should this be the case or the scenario is different, pls post back.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested or should you be in need of additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

- Hi,

You need to do all your router configuration with a PC wired to the router, the desktop. If the desktop communicates with the router and if it can access the Internet, then you need not run the setup wizard since most settings are already working.

While the desktop is actively on the DLInk Configuration Webpage, power up your laptop. Go to your Wireless Configuration and configure using the routers settings as displayed in your desktop. Additionally, it might be of an advantage to use static networking settings. IP Add - 192.168.0.100; Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0; Default Gateway - 192.168.0.1; DNS - what is shown in your desktop. Key in also the SSID of your router, verify that the security key (WEP, WPA) are the same or not used at all/disabled.

Windows XP sometimes will not readily allow connection to an unsecured WiFi network.

If problem persist please post back brand/model of your laptop and what WiFi networking card is being used by it.

Cheers.
