Re: pcmcia dont work

Unplug the card from the slot and reboot your laptop without it in there. After your computer boots back up, plug your card back in and it should recognize it again.

2 things, did your Wi-Fi pci-card come with laptop or did you bought it later, if its the later it could be a authorizing issue, or else it could be the router misconfigured for the computer like the new routers with WPA2 protocols doesnt "seeing" the old b or g cards in laptops

My wireless connection is not working. I have

The information provided is not sufficent to suggest or provide any solution. However the best one could do is try to isolate the issue. Good that you have tried the adapters on both the laptops. however some questions needs answers
- isnt there an inbuilt wireless card in your laptop ?
- what type of wireless adapter are you using USB / PCI ?
- Have you checked if the laptop shows the adapter under the Hardware/Device manager ?

If everything is checked, then its better to contact your laptop vendor to isolate the issue - if its with the laptop.

Un able to connect the Wireless access point, from my laptop. It is showing up in "view Avialable Wireless Networks" and it is not getting connected when I say connect

The solution is to remove (Uninstall) the Dell WLAN Management software this removes the device as well. Then Reinstall the wireless card with the Drivers ONLY. (It seems the DELL software doesn't work properly with the DELL branded network card in a DELL Laptop; go figure)
When you download the driver it will unzip and try to install automatically; but this will only reinstall the offending software again, so you must cancel the installation after you unzip the file.
When I searched for new hardware again it found the device as a Broadcom wireless card but could not install the drivers. This allows you to click Update Drivers and point to the 'drivers' folder in the location that the files were unzipped to. Once the device driver alone is installed the wireless card works immediately and finds any available networks.

Belkin router is working with desk top computer. add laptop

It's asking for the security word that you entered into the router when you set up wireless security. You will need to enter both the wireless SSID, and the security key to make the system work.

Pcmcia card not working pc not picking it up urgent help

Have you tried looking in your device manager to see if all is ok in there. If your PCMCIA port isn't working maybe it can be fixed from the device manager. Could just need the driver updated. I hope this problem works out asap for you.

Wireless internet service

Rather than "...purchase a wireless card..." since "...have no external slot..." and "...have a built in wireless card..." why not consider a WiFi AP/Router that can either serve as Access Point, Router, Bridge. Repeater (such as a LinkSys WRT54G). Such a unit if configured right will work in either a wired or wireless environment.

Perhaps your foremost concern should be; will there be a wireless Internet Provider/service within the immediate vicinity of the hotel. This of course depends on the location (country) and available service. In some countries/locations, the wireless ISP Provider bundles in their package the needed hardware. It is almost a rarity nowadays for a hotel not to have some sort of Internet Access even if just a dial-up. They may not share it with guests but most likely they are capable.

Alternately, you can try looking around for a public Internet Cafe and negotiate for a temporary WiFi access while staying in that location.

In some extreme case where the ISP requires use of a PCMCIA card and the laptop does not have such bus/feature or port, there are on the market an adapter/ converter that plugs to your USB port and the other ends will accept a standard PCMCIA card. Some examples of this device may be found here, here and here. The last was specifically designed for Broadband applications as well as Bluetooth.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up[ or should you be in need of further information.

Good luck and kind regards.
