Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
On/Off ButtonThe red light is on when connected to power, but the button no longer detents when pushing it. We cannot get it to go green because of this situation. Is this fixable? is it possible to open up the unit without further damage? If so, how?
I opened up the console by removing the rubber foot covers and plastic tab covers over 6 screws. Once opened I blew out the dust with canned air. I then noticed a white square detentable button the size of an eraser head on a pencil that was loose. It fell off of the small circuit board that controls the on off button for the unit. I took a small dab of silicone sealant and placed it on the bottom of the button and carefully placed it onto the board. There were four aligning solder points on the button and the board. Be sure not to cover these with sealant. Turn the power on and test the button to make sure it turns on and off before letting the button dry. There were no concerns/issues with holding the board with the power on. It now works.
