Tower will not power up

Buy a new towercase that is compatible with the new motherboard. You may need a more powerful power supply which should come with a new tower case but check it does.
It will be hard to assess if the previous tower has a powerful enough compatible power supply and what size motherboard it is rated to hold..

No power and won't boot suggest a power supply problem in the tower--it is listed as a desktop unit.

What is common on a lot of units (computer towers, TV sets, you name it) is the stand by power supply which is on 7/24 fails.

The most common reason is filter caps dry out because cheap ones and ones rated too low a voltage are used.

The beauty of this is if the power supply is removed and opened you will be able to SEE the bad ones.

I will attach a photo of bad caps--tops which should be perfectly flat are puffed up from a little to a lot and or brown material is seen at top and bottom of the cap.

I have fixed many towers (desktop units) and other equipment with this problem---most of them at first had to be turned on a few times to get them to come on--it gradually gets worse until it will not make it on.

If bad caps are found you can usually buy a replacement supply at a reasonable price or replace the puffed up caps (seen as many as 8 bad in one computer tower).

the two larger ones are bad for sure.

Either the power supply or front panel switch is bad. Try another push switch first. Power supplies are common to fail on these.

It may have been coincident. For a 4 years old monitor, the power supply may have failed.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). Power outage means your power supply has blown. If you have a spare try and change that and see what happens.

its your power supply that making nosies, change it to a quiet one. or its you processor fan. if so you need to clean it from dust. also clean your power supply and if you are lucky the noises disappears.

Hi. this is a failed power supply. the power supply pack will have to be replaced. it located on the rear side of the tower in the upper corner. its where the power cord plugs into. replace the power pack and this will fix the issue at hand.

i have the same problem i don't think its the power supply... my power see if your power supply has a "test button" on it and see if the fans work when you press that button

not powering up does not mean the mother board is bad , the power supply going bad is more likely to be the problem . But your tower is considered to be a mini tower ive got the same one that I replaced the mother board on . dont mess up and get the wrong size board , it will not fit!

whatever socket that is 454 soket mobo i think or befor ethat so old look on ebay for one that can take your chip how do u know mobos bad no power or im open for chat anytime also thx nick helpap
