Re: film viewing and scanning

Sorry, but you won't be able to do that with a CX6600. In order to scan film negatives, you need a printer that includes a transparency unit in the lid, that is, a panel that lights the film from behind. Also, the CX6600's scan resolution wasn't designed for detailed film scans. Try the online Epson Store at where you can often find good deals on refurbished stand-alone scanners with transparency units.

I need an all in one printer that also has a negative scan facility. Any suggestions, I have 2000 slides to scan .

Do you want a recomendation?do you want new or used? Typically all in one users don't scan slides or film, but flat prints, so they don't have the lighted back lid needed to scan film.I know that the Epson Stylus PHOTO RX-620 & 700 had a holder for 4 slides or 1 strip of film about 8 inches long

Chances are that somewhere in your family photo collections you have a bunch of slides and negatives that you wish you could do more with. You may want to include them in your family history, to publish them on the Web, or simply to make digital copies so you can share them with the family.

If you've ever tried to scan a negative or slide on a regular flatbed scanner, you'll know that it doesn't work, and you end up with a pure black scan. In this article we'll show you how you get your negatives and slides into digital format, and what issues you may face along the way.

pixblue.gif Benefits Of Scanning Film

There are some key benefits to scanning film (we'll use the term to include slides and negatives) in comparison to scanning a photo. When you scan film, you can use the full area of the slide or negative, whereas a photo will generally only display a cropped portion of the original. You are also scanning the original source image rather than the color corrected and tweaked version of it that the photo processor has provided you with. The process of turning a negative image into a positive one involves inverting the colors in the image and removing the orange cast from the negative. This would be a complicated process if you were doing it by hand; however, your scanner will provide you with software to do this automatically, or you can purchase standalone software to do it.

Most cheaper flatbed scanners are designed to scan photos and other images that reflect light when it is shone onto them. The problem is that film is transparent and light passes through it rather than being reflected off it. Many flatbed scanners have an optional transparency adapter, which replaces the scanner lid with a larger box shaped ob....

Why is my canoscan 44oof scanning in negative mode i.e white paper with black print is scanning black with white print

I solved this problem by the following:

Don't scan from the Canoscan toolbar. Use an imaging program (I used Picasa), import from the Canoscan, and Scangear opens up. In the settings for Scangear, you can choose positive or negative film (use positive for slides). You can keep using Scangear, or after using it once, you'll see it has corrected the problem with the toolbar

How can I install a HP printer instead of an Epson type of printer, so that it appears in the SMART Panel window for photo print? I am using an EPSON PERFECTION 1240U. Is it also possible to print to pdf?...

Just install the software and if your using windows after installing click on start go to printers right click the new printers and make it the default printer then close it out, if you want to keep the other printer, if not remove your old printer first remove the software by clicking on start go to control panel click on add and remove programs click on the old printer and click remove. After you remove the printer do a disk cleanup then do a defrayment on your system, assume you know how to do the last two. Then install the new printer it will become the default printer once installed. And yes to the two other questions you asked. If you need more asstance post here and thanks for using Fix-ya and please rate this free question if it was helpful.
