Can you delete files from the flash drive once you have transfered them from one P.C to another? Thus freeing up the space. If so how?

Yes, just like you would any other file. Go in to My Computer and in to your flash drive. Right click the file you want to get rid of and click delete.

-OR-

Instead of copying and pasting from the memory stick you can cut and paste. This moves the files from the stick to your computer.

Need to create space on local disk .I have a memory chip on my tablet but can't transfer any data to make space for updates

Just look at the files on your local disk and delete any that you can delete. For example old pictures, video files that you no longer need. If you want them you can transfer them to a flash drive.

The thing to check is to make sure you empty the recycle bin on the computer that you used to delete the file. Once you do this it should free up the space.

Deleting files does not free up disk space

Note that "deleted" items move from their location into the "Recycle Bin".

So, "empty" the Recycle Bin, in order to reclaim the space.

Or, when deleting:
1. click ONCE to select a file/folder to be deleted
2. hold the SHIFT key down
3. click the DELETE key
4. release the SHIFT key

This will "permanently" delete the file/folder, immediately freeing-up the disk-space.

Can't Delete Files From Global MP3 Player with Mac OSX

When moving an item to the trash, it actually is just in a hidden ".Trash" folder on that disk, so no space is actually freed up. Can you try hooking the drive back up and then emptying the trash?

Flash drive failure

You need to format your drives. Even though you delete files on them a small amount of data remains each time. After so long the data builds up and clogs the drive.

Insert a USB with a problem
Go applications, Disk utility
open disk utility, then you should see the USB disk in the utility screen. click on then click format. It will kill all data on the USB and make it usable again.
