Re: my radio

Could be a short across your speaker terinals.are u using a seperate to be more specific on set up
some times in trunk metal from something might bre touching the terminal on speakers ,this will cause a muted affect also check to make sure you didnt mute the radio.

Need to see wiring diagram for 1996 chevy truck 2500 to install a radio where do all the wires from the truck attach to wires to the radio

not a difficult job ,but easier if you buy the correct wiring plug from a auto factor then you just plug it all together from existing wiring to the new radio ,simple then for anyone to do

The Radio is on, but the sound has left the building.

ok more than likely u either dont have it grounded good enough or your speakers arnt hooked up good enough from each speaker follow that wire to make sure there hooked up good and also if there aftermarket use black electric tape and your ground wire is the black one make sure it is grounded good to a metal part on your car please let me know if this helps thanks

I need the wiring diagram to install an aftermarket dual stereo in a 1996 chevy lumina

first take out the stock head unit, after the colors of the wires originally from the car is usually red black yellow orange blue or gray, blue or gray w/ stripe, and purple or green, and purple or green w/ stripe. the head unit should have a power on it for the speaker wires those are the only tricky ones. color with stripe is negative. yellow for +12 black for -12 ground and red is for ignition, turn the radio on with ignition on. purple is usually rear and blue is usual front

I need to know how to hook up a head unit in a 98 chevy lumina i dont understand the wiring in the car

The colors are as follows. grey/tan+ LF, green/ RF, brown+/yellow LR, dk. blue+/blue RR. You can also verify the speakers by using a 9v battery. Hold one wire on one terminal of the 9v battery then just strike the other wire for only a second DO NOT HOLD the wires to the battery for more than an instant. You will hear a pop noise from the speaker.
Orange is memory, yellow 12v switched, black ground/earth.

***Warning!!!!!! There's 2 yellow and 2 grey wires (other grey is dimmer). If the original factory harness is still there and not cut up, all the speakers will be next to each other on the plug(s). If not, you MUST test the wire(s) with a test light (or some other way), verify the 12 switched (yellow) incase a fuse is blown. Same with the dimmer lead, you need to turn up and down the dash dimmer to get a response from that wire. If you use the wrong wires you will send 12V into the speaker leads from the radio and kill the radio!
