Reset the player by pressing the Reset button on the back of the player with a non-metal pointed object. If that doesn't work I have attached a link that gives you more information. Thanks for using FixYa.
To charge it from your computer? Any usb cable that you can plug into your player should at least charge it
Take it to a computer/electronics shop and ask for a usb cable to fit it. There are two types, charging and charging/data, with the data cable having all wires connected through so you can put music on your player from the computer.
I checked on eBay and put in "rca m4002 cable". I found one for under $7 including postage, charging only.
The same thing happened to me.(I have a different model but I'm sure you can solve it the same) Go to the website and download the frimware thing and it will completly clean your MP3 of data you added. At least it did for me.
