Vista and digital cam trouble

I have opened ulead program to connect with my camera in an effort to upload my video onto the computer. I am using vista. I havent tried the combo of vista, ulead program, and this camera. In fact, I haven't ever been able to use this camera on this computer. The driver update on another help site did no good. Samsung site doesnt show anything in the search for this. When I turn the camera on in this program, the whole screen turns blue and shuts down the computer. It is a samsung mini SC-D353.

Re: Vista and digital cam trouble

I am also having a problem, but I am trying to connect my camera to a Mac OS X Version 10.5.5 (latest mac!) and the computer doesn't seem to be recognizing the camera, nor does the camera indicate that there is a 4-pin plug in it's DV slot.  I think my problem might be the wire....

Re: Vista and digital cam trouble

I'm also having this problem- Using my IEEE PCI (Standard) Firewire card on Vista. It refuses to detect my Handycam DCR HC26.

Any help is appreciated!

To transfer tape data to computer

the way you can transfer your videos on your computer is by using USB cable and install the driver to your computer. You can upload your videos by saving it on ULEAD products. As far as i know you cant transfer videos from disc to your memory card unless it was been converted but you cant view or watch it on your camcorder itself only computer can play this because your camcorder is not able to play such converted files.
i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Let me know if you have problems Good Luck!
thank you for using fixya

It doesnt recognize my cam

the software (ulead) included with the camcorder does not recognize the file type even when its in a .avi format. The computer will recognize it and it will even run through another program. But I need to be able to upload the .avi file to the program that came with the camcorder so I can edit them before they are burned to the DVD. The other program that I have (trial version of Allok - I had to try it since ulead wouldn't work) will not edit, only burns. AND it leaves a very visible watermark because it is a trial version. IPlease help.

Can't upload video on PC

the computer might not automatically upload the file. it will detect the hardware, but not necessarily start uploading. if you have xp, try going into movie maker which is in your program list in the start menu. on the left hand side there is a few blue sentences, one is import video, another is import video from device. if you have your camera connected to the computer through firewire and have your camera on the vcr/playback mode, open movie maker and click import video from device, the computer will have already detected your camera, so the first option your given in the next screen should have the make and model of your camera to upload from.

Putting video footage on my computer

To get your footage into the computer from DV tape you need a four pin firewire (IEEE1493 or iLink) cable from the camera to a six pin cable into the computer. USB will not do a proper job, it's for downloding photos or as you already mentioned, Web caming.
