Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

HP Outlook Express Inbox will open SOME files, but not ALL files. There seems to be some connection between the number of files within a heading, some opening with up to 30 files, but others that won't. When they won't open with 30, the next file MAY not even if it has 28. Any suggestions?

Re: HP

Check with file extensions( such as .exe) because not all files especially with archives or some doesn't support with your outlook can check with its compatability..

Can't open outlook express

That's a well-discussed situation if you'd searched for answers much. Answers vary from reinstalling Outlook binaries to running cleanup utilities on the Outlook configuration files, mail archives, address archives, etc. depending on what BSOD you got (seriously, nothing but blue on the screen, no text?)

Backup your outlook address and startup files, and your data if you don't already back it up; then follow the instructions offer for Outlook Express initialization failing/hanging. That will produce a nicer result than just deleting your outlook.ini file. Microsoft like to make it do everything, but the cost is that there are now all these maintenance tools despite the fact that it's the Express (as in condensed) version.

Computer won't delete items from inbox on outlook express

Do you have IMAP on your email server? IMAP is a duplicate of what you have in your email program, if your not deleting the messages on the server but only on your email program then your server space will be full and it will give people that send you email that message.

Outlook express 6.0 outbox problems

This is a common problem with outlook express. The files have become too large for outlook express. I recommend blowing out all the emails. Try first empty the deleted items. If it will not delete. You need to find the folder associated with this identity. That would be in C drive then documents and settings then your username then application data (hidden folder) then identities. There will be a folder with a crazy name of numbers and letters. Go into this folder and you will see your inbox folder and outbox, sent box etc. Delete the folders that you dont have important emails in and this will dump that whole box. Make sure outlook express is closed when you do this. When you reopen outlook express it will recreate these folders empty. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I want to scan and email a document from my new HP DESKJET F4280 printer. I can scan it, and then I try to share it, but when I hit the send button it says there is no internet connection. Am I right in...

When you scan a document it must be scanned with OCR software. The default scanning method will scan a document as a picture, not a document with letters and words. The OCR software will recognize the letters and put the scanned document in the proper format to open it with MS Word. The software that you scan with should have a setting for OCR, read your instructions or help files to get the details if you can not find them very easy in the software you use for scanning. .

The problem with using Outlook may be that you have not set it up properly to get your emails from your email server. You do not need to use Outlook or Outlook express to send any documents, you can use your web based email server if you like, but you can use Outlook Express as well. You just need to add the document to send as an attachment to the email.

To set up Outlook Express to get your email, you must first find out what the POP3 and SMTP setting you must use. You can get that information from your email provider, it is different for every email provider. Then you go to the "File" menu at the top left of Outlook Express and select "Identities" and select "Add New Identity" and from there you will go thru a wizard to guide you thru the process of setting up your email client. Just make sure you have the POP3 and SMTP settings available for you to put into Outlook Express when prompted to in the wizard.

I am unable to get inbox-outlook express to send or recieve e mail. It says it is not responding

The usual cause of this error is a missing or damaged folders.dbx file. Either that or it is using a read only attribute. To fix this bug:
· Click Start
· then Find
· then click Files or Folders.
· In the Named box, type folders.dbx.
· In the Look In box, click your main hard disk (this is usually drive C), and then
. click Find Now.
· Right-click the Folders.dbx file, and then click Rename.
· Type folders.old, and click OK.
· Start Outlook Express again. This creates a new Folders.dbx file automatically.

Outlook Express will only open files containing about 30 files. Sometimes, it won't open with even fewer files, but definitely will not if there are more than 30. That is just an arbitrary number that...

have you tried doing that on another computer? what we need to do is check weither your outlook express gives problems in regards to your system...and if it does, you need to hd maintainance...etc.

i had this problem before and what i did was empty the %temp%, empty the folder and lastly delete temp internet files. this solved my problem with OE.

hope this helps you as well...
