Motorola MD761 5.8 GHz phone

Both my base phone and additional unit read "out of range" even when sitting in their chargers, and I cannot get a dial tone. Can anyone help me with this problem?? Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestion... However, this phone doesn't seem to have a channel changing option. We untimately ended up disconnecting the power and reregistering the phone as if it were a new phone, and so far, so good.

This is about the 3rd time my phones have done this. I can't find my instructions and it's driving me nuts. No channel option on my phone either. Last time I just unplugged them and it fixed the problem. This time, I'm not so lucky.

Change the channel on the base or the phones. That should fix the problem.

Bad contact between the phone and the base unit making the pair think they are low on battery.

it probably wouldn't hurt to get some rubbing alcohol, and clean the charging contacts on the base station and the handset. Oxidation can build up, and depending on whether you normally leave the handset on the charger or not, that oxidation can interfere with the contacts.

Hi there, Your new phones will not interact with a base station from another brand of phones. If you want to use one base station, you can buy single phones of the same model and brand and those will interact with the original base station. Your new phones will not connect to the old base station Sorry, Alex

Hello mdellarusso. Disconnect the power to your phonebase. Remove the battiers from the portables. If the battiers are over 2years old replace them. Wait for 10minutes. Reconnect the base AC power, reinsert battiers and place on their chargers. Perform an operational test. If test fails I suggest a replacement system. Good Luck.

Motorola MD400

Take battery out of handset for one minute.
Unplug base unit (power and phone line) for one minute.
Plug base unit back in (power and phone line).
Put battery back in handset. Place hangset on base for
one minute. This got my phone up and running.
I had no battery power in the base unit, but if I did, I think
you have to remove those as well.

Help with MD781 phone problem

on the phone that says, 'out of range' you need to select MENU then scroll down to the option that says REGISTER and select that. Then go to your BASE UNIT and push and hold the PAGE button until the 'bad' phone synch's up again. .... I called into motorola support and they stepped me through this.

5.8 GHZ Motorola Cordless Phone, Base w/1 additional phone

This is not a problem with the battery but rather the phone has lost sync. You can get it back by going to the menu screen then going to register. The phone will walk you through from there. Mine lose sync from time to time and I get the same error. I have these phones both in my shop and home.
Hope this helped you out...

Brand new cordless handset -- no dial tone, no ring!

I doubt it's the battery. As I understand it the base works fine and the problem is only with a cordless phone. Are you using an external charger stand for the cordless handset? These phones need to be registered to the base unit. That is usually done by installing the cordless phone in the base unit but you may need to do that shortly after insalling the battery or you could have a register button or setting.
