Question about Teac GF-350 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Cannot play newly recorded cd's on any of our home audio systems, auto track or finalize.

We got the Teac GF-350 CD recorder for Christmas. I am an audio file from the 70's through early 90's but am somewhat out of the loop with a lot of the new technologies)seems like changing daily). Had my own 36 trk studio where all I would buy was Teac/Tascam equip. back when Reel to reels were the best quality. I am having a couple of problems with this system. I purchased Music CD-R's. Are all CD-R's digital or is there a differnce? Nobody can seem to answer this question for me at any store when I ask.

1. Can not play newly recorded CD's from this product, on our home audio units. One is about 10 years old and the other is about 6-7 yrs. old. Are they just too outdated for these recordings? I can play them in our car players with no problem(2000 & 2007).

2. Cannot get the system to auto track for recording.

3. Will sometimes finalize and other times not.

I wished that I could have read the troubleshooting solutions on this site so I wouldn't have to ask for a solution of a repeditive problem. Much appreciated for a solution to my problems.
Thanks A Bunch!

Firstly double check that the recordable discs you have bear the label "Digital Audio" on them as per the attached picture. Secondly what happens when you go through the finialise procedure in the manual? Do you see the ?FIn--d? display when you select the finialise button? Do you see ?NO TOC? and ?REC? indicators blinking at the next step? Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

I got the unit(gf-350)home from the store and set it first it worked okay..but only for about two hours.i noticed that the cd's were getting unusually warm after being recorded on.after about two...

It sounds to me you have manufacture defect, you said it worked fine for two hours and then you ran into problems, if there were issues with the cd's they would not have played. I would do yourself a favor and return it for exchange or for a different unit.

What isn,t recording? The CD or the tapes? Either way, try running a cleaner through. It may be as simple as that.

Trying to finalize a cd

Hi, This is just a guess but it may be worth a try. I have heard that Audio CD-Rs, which are the only media this machine will record onto, are famous for being finicky about being played on different kinds of CD readers. My suggestion is that you "rip" the Audio CD-R's content to your computer (in .wav or .MP3 format) and then make a copy of your album onto a reagular CD-R which is more likely to be played on any CD reader. Not sure if this'll work for you but it's worth a shot. Hope this helps.
