Question about Nokia 1600 Cellular Phone

Display names My phone only displays the numbers when i get a call or a text message, how do i get it to show the callers name?

Select Menu > Contacts > Settings and from the available
Contacts view
—To select how the names and phone numbers
are shown.
When you view the Details of a contact with
Contacts view set to Name list or Name only.

check the phone book entries...possible the names are appearing twice in the phonebook...or the format in which nos are saved could be diff from the format of numbers u get message : u might have stores only no and when u recieve msg it might come with a 0 or country code too

Have u setup fone to show names calling?

If not then settings/phone/show caller

If you have, good chance caller is withholding name/number.

No contact name displayed when receiving a phone call, only the #

go to menu,select call settings,then select caller id network and set it to 'automatic selection'.the phone will detect the network and name will be displayed.

Here is the user manual for your phone. Since all phone software varies, this should give the the information you need.

Caller name will not display when they call. there names are in my contact list


This is why your caller's name won't display when they call in. You basically have the names stored twice in your phone, one on your memory stick and the other on your phone. For you to sure of this; get a number and store it on the sim and store it the second time on the phone. Call in and you would notice that the callers name won't show.

Back up the contacts via the Nokia PC suite, delete and re-save on the phone. This would solve the problem.

go to ur message settings and set the phone caller id on and press ok after some time when any message come from ur contact numbers it will show or it is unkonwn number means it will not shown

sometimes phones take time to set after restart or using after long time

maybe u have saved alot of numder in it.

increase its memory size

E63 - contact names do not appear next to text messages in inbox

No duplicates in there if there is more than one number attached to more than one name the nokia refuses to show caller name, cheak phonebook to make sure there is one number to one name only
