A shipment of new boards is now available. You can purchase one from the distributor Vance Baldwin.
if the capacitor didnt fix it, it must have more problems, and those other parts were not available.
The board that has the capacitor that burns out is the main power supply board, part number 1ESA13425. You will need to make two adjustments. I could email you the service manual page pdfs for the adjustments.
The manufacturers warehouse in California that Vance Baldwin has to order from now shows inventory of that board. Electrical parts are generally not returnable if they have been installed because of the possibility that another problem in the unit could damage the board. Thats not likely, its just a general statement.
Send me your mailing address to [email protected] and I will mail you a copy of the instructions for making the adjustments. I tried scanning and emailing but it doesnt seem to work well for this document. Dont recall any problem with getting shocked from the capacitors, but then I always take precautions like only using one hand or wearing a rubber glove when in doubt.

I was not present when the television went out. I found the old capacitor exactly as described by Zaxxal in previous posts. The burned out capacitor looked like an open clam and had obviously burned as it was partially black and left a slight bit of black residue on the board and the long aluminum metal piece (heatsink maybe?) next to it. I'm not an electronics guy...I've been able to accomplish what I have so far do to reading posts on this site. The new capacitor I replaced it with was also per previous posts by zaxxal. It soldered on without any trouble. I have soldered before but only a few times. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated, especially discharging the power supply so I don't zap myself. Also, if it's easier for a newbie such as myself to just replace the whole power board, that's fine too. I'd also need to know where to purchase one if you think that's the way to go.
I would like to contact you directly about shipping you the board and how to remove it without zapping myself. I think I got lucky I didn't shock myself before after reading up a little more about these things. my email is [email protected]
I sincerely appreciate your assistance.
Am I getting the power supply or sub power supply. I have the model 6842 PE M. Do you know the number of the power supply I need? Where do I find the number at? If I get one am I going to have to adjust the voltage like you mentioned before?
Thanks again,
Steve
Here's my email. [email protected]

New power supply came today. I need those instructions you referred to that will allow me to adjust voltages, etc. Also hoping you can tell me how to discharge the power in the old power supply so I don't get shocked.
Thanks,
Steve
Mine made a loud pop and flash when I turned it on. would like to know how to test power supply and if bad where to get one thank you
You need to provide some more information. The usual compaint for the main power board failure is that they heard a loud pop and it didnt work after that. If they were watching it when it popped, the may have seen a bright flash on the display and a puff of smoke and an odor like something had burned. When the capacitor fails it sometimes takes other parts with it. Also it has to be replaced with a special type or it will fail again.
If a new main power board is installed, there are adjustments that have to be made with a digital voltmeter to match it to the set.
