Dead set

Hi ,

Here are some DIY steps that may help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I've advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts on the power supply, you may visit the link for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact on the board, don't attempt to touch anything because there somefatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only.

The next steps should be done by an expert or qualified technician because isolating the problem on the power supply is quite technical.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Give a thumbs up if you find it useful.

Thanks for using fixya.

Screen gone dead (32"LCD, two months old), power LED is flashing in a sequence of five red flashes then a pause. it's completely unresponsive. turned off and on at wall, still no joy

You should have good warranty coverage still and I would not delay contacting Panasonic forthwith. Depending on where you bought it, they may even have an exchange program since nothing should fail that soon.
The flashing LED could translate into a problem code although as dead as it is, I would suspect the main power supply. I wouldn't recommend opening the unit for any reason.

No power

unplug the unit for 24 hours and try it again. if the unit doesnt come on at all, even after that, then the internal fuse is blown, or a power spike / surge has friend part of the internal power supply. you'll have the go through the warranty process of the manufacturer, or find a local tv repair shop.

My tv went dead during a lightning storm. I heard

The sound could have come from one of your power capacitors. You could tell if one of them is no longer operational by looking at them; they will be burned, or blistered, or will be bulging. If this is a CRT type of TV ensure that you only look inside if you are fully aware of how to deal with the lethal voltages that are stored on the inside of the unit.

believe are the two caps., beside the large H.V. transformer? Just replace the two capacitors and should be fine, I have this problem before. Now as far as open neutral there maybe other damage to the set.

you can also check cp025 & cp024. Now the problem with this power supply is if you find a problem with one of the following parts the have to be all replaced at the same time, because if one part goes it casuses stress on the other parts. Check the test the following parts tp020 dp033 tp023 (if installed) tp025 (if installed) tp022 (if installed) typically only have 2 of the last 3 installed in this tv. good luck.
