It could be that the picture tubes have gone down on emission, there is a prcedure that can be tried to bring up the overall brightness but it is just possible that you will loose some picture quality. If it's a 1994 projo tv i am thinking of the three crt system, a gray scale alignment would probably correct the dark condition in your picture, again depending on how far gone is the emission in your picture tubes, if your projo tv is the dlp system, the bad news is that you could be needing some light engine repair. The color adjustment is possible with the availability of a service manual or in the case of the dlp system, light engine repairs or replacement are available from some on line stores.
Check the info from this website to see if you are able to fix your TV. You should turn the blue screen control down slightly counterclockwise. If that did not work, then more likely you have a video amplifier IC defective or a blue CRT.
The fix for this is here somewhere, as I had the same problem last January and the solution was posted here in March last year. I'll try to find it and post the link to it for you, later.
convergence ic and resistors require replacement and that you need to check for cracked solder. http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
Hello......
First reduse the G2 voltage for the blue c.r.t,and watch if the unit works for longer period (offcource blue colour will be not present). After reducing G2 voltage to blue c.r.t still behaves the same than c.r.t is faulty and you have to replace.
Pls count the red led blinking when it goes off, incase it goes to std by mode.
Gopali
this problem is due to blue video circuit.
1 Please check supply to blue video ckt.
2 check crt base for loose.
3 check loose contact & parts related to blue cathode.
4 blue signal coming from processor to blue video.
5 processor it self.
6 at last if tv is very old than check crt also.(possibility is rear)
hope this will help.
