There are also certain models of cd player that can remember your place in a track although I do not know any manufacturers or models myself. You can try googling around for one.

Memorex portable cd player will not hold place on the cd when turned off

Audio books may be different but with a music CD if you press STOP once you can pick up where you left off. Pressing STOP twice reverts to the beginning.

Audio Books

There are several brands and publishers of audio books and you didn't identify yours. In most cases professionally produced audio books are separated into several 3-6 minute tracks. your CD player should just skip to the next using the button with the single arrow pointing to the vertical line. >l

When listening to audio books, If I'm using a cd player that doesn't retain the last track when shut off I make a mental note of the track number.

Hope this helps

I left the red key in epic view 550 for 1 full day, next day when discovered now treadmill will not start, no lights, no noise, nothing!! Help

Check the reset/off circuit breaker located on the treadmill frame near the power cord. If the switch protrudes as shown, the circuit breaker has tripped. To reset the circuit breaker, wait for five minutes and then press the switch to the reset position.

CD player used for reading books only

Thank you for responding however I solved the problem myself. I returned it to Best Buy where I purchased it and talked to the tech people. They said that the units are almost obsolete as they`ve been taken over by the Ipod or some other electronic device, The kids use them for music, which is fine, but it doesnt solve my problem. I`m almost blind and I love to read and audio books are my salvation. According to the tech, this unit and any other on the market do not have the feature I`m looking for, so I`m just going to have to live with it. Thats not an acceptable answer but what choice to I have. I went to 6 stores looking for a unit and almost without exception, they all had about 1/2 doz. of these players in inventory and they all had the same features or lack of.
Thanks again gentlemen.

Select a Treadmill for Walking

Price You get what you pay for when it comes to treadmills, but for most of us any treadmill is going to be a significant investment. When you shop by price you must be even more careful to select the best in that price range. The price ranges generally break down to Budget $500-$1500, Mid-Range $1500-$3000 and Quality $3000-up. There are often significant sales and discounts. The Motor and Horsepower The motor matters - it is what gets the heaviest workout. The horsepower ratings can be confusing, the figure you want to look at is the "continuous duty rating" and shop for 1.5 to 2.5 HP "continuous duty". The "peak duty" rating is less valuable. The "treadmill duty" rating falls between continuous and peak. Look for the longest warranty on the motor, 1 year at least. DC motors are quieter. Stability and Smooth Ride Test treadmills wearing your workout shoes and clothes. A shaky or jerky ride is not acceptable. The hand rails should feel sturdy enough to support you and be in a good position to grip easily and not block your arm motion. The belt must be wide enough and long enough for your stride. Workout Features Boredom kills treadmills. Choose a model that has the most pre-set and programmable workouts to vary pace and incline. The incline and speed should be easily adjustable from the console. A pulse monitor is a big plus. A water bottle holder and book rack are essential for me. Some models plug into a VCR, CD, or internet for new workouts. Books or videos on how to use your treadmill effectively can get you going in the right direction. • Top Treadmill Accessories, Books, Video Noise and Space The treadmill needs to work in your space. How noisy is it? If you plan to watch TV or listen to music, you need to be able to hear those over the treadmill itself. A model that looks small in the store can turn into an elephant in your spare room. Check its size when folded or stored and test how easy it is to move.

CD player restarts cd from beginning each time

1) What year and model is it?
2) Probably not.

I have an Emerson from several years ago that I've taken all apart and put back together.  My guess is, unless it auto powers off when paused, or there's another button besides play/pause, stop, Back, forward, mode, prog, and antiskip, your problem is better-solved with an mp3 player. An ipod shuffle would do fine. The shuffle feature can be turned on or off, and one may jog without disturbing the electronics.

Resume where stopped listening

Review the pages in the manual regarding organizing your tracks into folders, and select "Repeat folder" in the folder view menu.

There is no bookmark option per se with this GoGear, even though other GoGears have the feature. You cannot stop where you left off - just note the time on the track when you stopped, and fast forward to that time when you next turn on the goGear.
