I misplaced the AC adapter quite some time ago and would like to purchase a replacement. Can someone tell me where I can get a replacement, what are the specs if I get a generic AC adapter at a shop like Radio Shack? Thanks.
I can't believe this went sooo long without a posted solution. I have the same problem, but my Brother has the same one so I was able to check his adapter. Also sony has the information online if you look for a bit.
Here's the info from the sony site: it's + in the middle - outside.

Radio Shack is a good place to get a new AC Adapter. Although you can find many used AC adapters at Goodwill stores, and some Pawn shops also carry a box of used AC adapters to sell. They usually have many, because when something doesn't work, they keep the electrical adapters and sell them. I would suggest,if your able, to bring the electrical device with you when shopping for the adapter. This way if you go into a Radio Shack they will know exactly what kind you need. If you go into a Goodwill store with your device to search through the used AC adapters. They also have electrical test plugs and you are able to see if the adapter works with your device. Be sure to put your item in a bag so that it doesn't look like your stealing something when you leave the store. I have done this several times and never had any problems. If anyone questions anything, you just tell them your searching for an adapter to fit. If it makes you more comfortable you can let someone know at a front desk that you have brought your own electrical device in to search for an AC plug. That way when you leave if anyone questions anything, you have someone to verify it. Just some suggestions..hope it helps.
Our parts supplier lists the AC adapter as unavailable, but an alternative may be available. I would recommend calling them at 1-888-237-8289 or carrying the unit in to the place of purchase or an electronic parts store to pursue an alternative.
Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. The adapter is a sealed unit and is very difficult to open and repair. Usually you need to replace the power adapter.
You probably need a new AC adapter. The best option is to find someone else with the same laptop adapter and try theirs. If it works then you know you need a new adapter. You can try and go to a store and purchase a generic one for you laptop if you do not have someone to swap with and take it back if it does not work. If it is still under warranty then Dell will send you a new one.
