Panasonic KX-T7731 Corded Phone Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 14, 2009

We have these Panaonsic KX T7731 phones in our offices and I just went to put someone on hold and page them and the phone started ringing like it was the same person I just tried to put on hold. Now some of the phones work and some do not. What could be the problem with this? Is there a reset button.

There is not a reset button on a TA-624 or newer Panasonic, which is consistent with when the 7731's were first delivered, but there is an ON/OFF switch.

Your description is a bit confusing. You press HOLD to put the outside line on hold, which would give you internal (intercom) dial tone. If you have a PAGE key (we like to use the upper right button) press that, or dial the page code, make your announcement and hang up.

There are some page transfer codes and some pickup codes mostly involvine 34 and 43, and those are covered in the User Manual. The feature you descrobe above seems to be from using the TRANSFER button instead of the HOLD button. Pressing the PAGE button without HOLD may give you the same symptom.

I want to turn off the beeping when i place someone one hold

The beeping when someone is on hold comes from the main control box, not from the phone itself. You must be able to enter the Panasonic system's programming mode from a display phone connected to Jack 1 which is usually extension 101 in both the older 624 system and the newer 824 system. The Programming Code is "111" and this is covered in the KX-TA824 "Programming Manual" Version 3.0 on page 27. The two choices are "External" and "Tone," and you want "External" which deactivates the beeping tone and activates the miniature (3.5mm) phone jack on the control box for incoming audio (Music on Hold: "MOH"). By selecting "External," hold will be silent (no beeps) unless you connect an audio source to the jack. Entering the programming mode is covered on Page 15.

How do use my caller id on my kx-t7731 telephone?

Caller ID requires 3 things, service, hardware, and programming. The hardware is a CID card with a part number ending in 93, as in TA62493,82493,TD193 etc. Then system programming in the 900's turn it on for each CO line and the phone needs to be ringing to display CID when the phone rings.

I have two lines on my Panasonic KX-T7731 I would like the second line to be a completely different ring than the first line

Not possible. A Panasonic Analog PITS phone has only one ring sound and all CO rings match.
The TD series and 74xx phones were the first phones to have 8 ring tones. The TDA series has 30 different tones. Prices are fairly competitive for upgrading.

Let's pretend that this is connected to the TA family of phone sytsems. It could be one of 18 different systems, but let's guess.
From the intercom, dial 7311# and 7321# That sets the call waiting on busy for both outside and inside calls and lets the phone "soft ring".

The real question is whether you should have programmed more than one phone to ring, but I'll leave that for another time.

In a TA series, the doorphone ringing is controlled by system programming in 700-702.

If you have a different system model, try the manual under Doorphone Ringing.

I have problem with hold ring

In system programming, hold recall times are option 200. In the TD's IIRC they are adjustable from 0-240 with 0 being no recall. In a TA series, they have increments of 30-180 seconds or none.

Number of rings

In your voicemail system programming menu set the time period before which the voicemail clicks in. Usually 10 or 15 seconds.
