These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. Screen is bowed on top and bottom.

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

HITACHI 53SBX59B, projection lights don't line up.

It sounds like bad solder connections in the convergence output circuit. It may also be an intermittant convergence output ic which will need to be replaced.

Samsung model number PCL5415R The blue bulb is weak. where can i get one and can I replace it it is a 52inch projection HDTV ready

You may also have a problem with the convergence. There are three color cans that project the image on the screen. A red one, green one and a blue one. The blue one is the one that you should try and adjust. Have you tried to realign the convergence yet? You should be able to go into the menu setting and locate this option is is typically done using the remote. What you will see is some cross marks starting in the center and move to the four coners. When you adjust it you will want to align all three (red, green and blue) crosses where neither color is more prevalent. If you are unable to get the blue can to align with the others, there is a problem with the convergence board. These boards or ICs can be replaced, if you have a repairman fix it your looking at around $250 - $400. If you would like to fix it yourself you can get the parts from...

My samsung projection tv #pcl5415r don't want to perform perfect focus adjustments

perfect focus functions are based on service mode setup...or factory settings. if the alignment of these setting are loss then the unit wont perfect focus. does the unit have a complete loss of convergence. a complete loss of convergence indicate possible failure of convergence amps.

Samsung 54" rear projection PCL5415R Won't Turn On

Although I am not incredibly familiar with your model, There is most likely a small board mounted above the others near the crts, there is a small red connector with a blue wire if you unhook it it will remove power from the convergence IC's and if they are shorted it might come up with conv out, will need a new module.

Samsung HCM5525W TV red blue outlines on images

The Samsung has bad convergence IC's most likly. This should be repair ONLY by a trained technician as a TV set is not a place to experiment or tinker with because of the extremly high voltage inside. This repair should cost you in the range of 250 to 400 bucks . Good Luck
