Printer putting line down the page

We have a 3050 in an office that is putting a line down the pages it prints. We had a local repair looks, and he says it is in the programming. He could fix it but it would cost as much as a new one. This is only 1 or 2 years old. Any ideas?

Re: Printer putting line down the page

I had a hp 3050 yesterday with two vertical lines running down the page when making a copy. All I had to do was to pull open the top cover where you put the paper you want copied and cleaned the glass strip with a rag and alcohol and the lines were gone.

Re: Printer putting line down the page

If the line is down all printed pages it could be the fuser or just the toner cartridge. A new cartridge is the cheapest test. If the line is only when coping or scanning then there is some kind of spot on the laser scanner unit and you can just wipe with a barely damp cloth.

I am not sure what the programing would have to do with it.

Re: Printer putting line down the page

If it in copying then clean the scanner glass and above it (white portion or white strip)

if it in printing, check your toner and if it not in it then probably it is in the fuser (damage film sleeve)

I have a grey/black line all the way down the right hand side of the page

Run a half test.
Put paper in the manual feed tray.
Print something, anything
When the paper is 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover.
Pull out the toner cartridge. Look down at the paper.
Does it have a black line on the right side?
If yes, replace the cartridge. If no, replace the fuser.

Try to print something out ( like report or similar ) and if the print is fine that means that you have some dirt on scaner, clean scaner verry well with moisturized cloth and dry it after.
If the lines are also on print that means that you have to replace drum ( toner crg. ). To be sure that is the drum problem, remove it from the macine and on green long roller ( drum ) look for lines. If there are lines, change it.
Use genuine crg. - allways

Copy issue with a line from top to bottom

if printing is fine and copying causes line on page, I suspect that there is dirt on the scanner glass. Clean scanner glass.

Printing black line down middle of page when coping

The fuser is located in the back of the printer. I think it's held in by to screws. It's about hte same size as the toner cartridge. Please visit these websites.

This is the fuser kit.

HP 3050 vertical black lines during fax

OK, from the desciption i can assume several things here are some option.
If by receipt you are talking about the confirmation the unit prints the the problem is likely dirty glass.
You would also get the lines when you make a copy using the ADF.
Open the lid there are two areas of glass the thin strip is likely dirty and needs to be cleaned.

If by receipt you mean pages you receive from someone else, and not printed or copied on your machine, then their machine has the condition described above.

If everything has the lines then you have a toner or fuser problem:
This is the test to determine toner or fuser issue.
Print a test page
When you hear the paper feed into the machine open the top to stop the machine
Remove the toner cart.
You should be able to see the page with printing on it. (This is before the page hits the fuser)
If you can see the smudge or marks on the page the problem is most likely the cartridge but NOT the fuser.
If the page is clean the problem is most likely the fuser.
Hope this helps

Printer making funny noise and print is almost peeling off the page on the right side

Your problem is with the fixing film in the fuser assembly (HP Part #RM1-3044). The brown material you see is the plastic film ripping and peeling off of the hheating element.
