Cartridge compatiability is apparently not the problem. We have tried another and it didn't help. We have found it is out of some colors of ink but that has also been tried. It still sounds like it is trying to start. It came up with a message that said it was BUSY.

This is a Canon Multipass F30 printer. It didn't happen during a paper jam.

Will do when my hubby gets back from some errands and will let you know.

We finally got up the nerve to tackle this problem again. We are both novices at the language, etc. and part of your responses looked totally alien to us. However, we finally took the printer apart to check the discs, etc. Couldn't find any problem so put it back together and turned it back on. While I was trying to pull up a document to print it suddenly released and we were able to print. It still will not print properly from e-mail. It prints so tiny you have to have a magnifer to read it. We can live with that until our son is here from out of town. He is our expert, of sorts. He at least knows what you are talking about.

I have run clean ups in the past but can't remember how or where to find it. Can you tell me where and how to do that and maybe we can call it done?

Hi Alene,

The more information you can give us, the easier it will be to help solve your problem. What make and model is this printer?

Also, do you mean that it simply won't move at all, or will it just not move during the print cycle. For example, most printers go through some kind of procedure when you first turn them on where the printhead moves back and forth. Does your printer normally do this, and does it do this now?

Did this happen just before a paper jam?

When the printer is getting ready to print, does it sound like the print head is trying to move? If you stuck your finger in and put it on the printhead, does it kind jiggle or jerk just when it would normally move?

Does your paper feed in ok?

What kind of email are you printing? When you want to see your email, do you go to a page like yahoo or gmail? Or do you open up a program on your computer (outlook, outlook express, windows email, eudora)?

You might want to make sure your print que is empty before going too much further.

In the right hand bottom corner of the screen (if you're using XP) you might see a picture of a little printer. If so, then double click it. In the screen that pops up, you might see several print jobs waiting. Right click on each of them and select cancel.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jan 25, 2008

    ya ok. good luck..

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jan 26, 2008

ok now u are half done right. it prints normaly but not printing from emails..

i will tell one way to check it.. click this link.. to download a software named deskpdf.. after installing that software ut will come into your printers list as a virtual printer. when ever you attempt to print a document you wil need to select the printer for printing.

in that now select this virtual printer instead of your normal printer. it will give the output as a pdf file. now print your email using that virtual printer and check if the same probelm exists.

i think it will print correctly.

so if that print goes correctly, you can try by reinstalling your printer software. and also clean the printer and service it up once. you will get done i hope.

    good luck.

I have replaced the cartridges and the printer is still saying I am out of ink and won't let me print

If you are using third party (ink made by another company) or refilled cartridges then that is most likely the problem.

Lexmark like most other printer companies do not want their products using ink that is not chemically identical to the ink Lexmark uses.

More often than not, OEM (Other Equipment Manufacturers) will damage print heads, cause print quality problems. These issues in turn lead to higher warranty claims. Most companies take the position that this is product tampering and therefore will void a warranty on a printer the issue is related to 3rd. party ink or toner.

After replacing ink cartridge printer dose not reconize one of six

Using refilled in cartridges and incompatible inks result in the following problems.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might leak and cause product damage. One method for refilling ink cartridges is to drill a hole through the cartridge, refill the ink, and then plug it. In some cases this plug does not hold, and the ink runs into the product and damages the printed circuit boards.
  • Refilled ink cartridges frequently exhibit spotty printing or fail to print. This problem might be a direct result of the nozzles being plugged with dried ink. Because the vents of the refilled cartridges have been opened, air is able to enter the cartridge and dry the ink.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might exhibit lower print quality, for the following reasons.
    • Printing algorithms used to create the various colors are based on particular printer inks. Using incompatible inks might result in color matching problems.
    • Refilled cartridges might have damaged nozzle orifices, result in various problems with print quality.
    • company products to which the printer belongs to can use a time delay between pages to accommodate the properties of the specific media type and ink being used. This prevents smearing problems from one page to the next. Using incompatible ink will alter the effects of this time delay and might result in poor print quality.
  • printer might not recognize refilled ink cartridges. The refilling process may involve altering the ink cartridge enough that the product is unable to recognize it. The condition of the print cartridge electrical contacts deteriorates with use. This also results in the product being unable to recognize the refilled cartridge.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might get stuck in the product. Because the cartridges from other manufacturers have been altered, cartridges might become stuck in the product. This problem might require that the product be disassembled to remove the cartridge.
  • printer at times cannot predict the long-term effects on product reliability from using different ink formulations.
try this.

have a nice day.

I turned my printer on and it said open door. clear cariage jam then press enter what is that?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

with the indulgence of mackenzie123...

A 'Carriage Jam" error indicates that the holder of the ink cartridges (called carriage) which includes the print head cannot move or complete its sideways movement. Three (3) possibilities:
  • it is really jammed. Paper debris is blocking its path and therefore must be cleaned;
  • the guide rod / rail has lost / dried up its lubricant and therefore the carriage could not move easily. The guide rod/rail as the name implies is the provides the path of motion;
  • ink smears on the encoder strip. The encoder strip is the long narrow plastic with barcode like markings. This tells the carriage where it is. An ink smear would block the markings and confuses the carriage.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa..

your paper feed problem may be due to the feed rollers or due to the fact the mecanism that raise the paper doesn't function properly. Normally if you clean the rollers that should work

After cartridge change, the printer will not work

you might not like it, but here it is, it is the truth

Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
