Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Philips HDTV does not turn on

Hey guys, i just acquired a 60" hi def rear projection from a friend for 75 dollars because it's not working and it was taking up space in his house...

the model number is 60PP9202, and this is his description of the problem, and it currently does the same for me:

there was a power outage last week, i was watching the tv at the time. Since then, the TV doesn't turn on. The power button lights up and it clicks, but that's all. No picture, no sound, nothing. The next day i tried and it worked fine again, it worked fine for a few days. 5 days later when i turned it on all it did was click, the power button does turn on, but no picture or sound...

any of you fine folks have some direction for me? i'm proficient in working with electronics, i've worked at a bmw dealership for the past 6 years, so testing and measuring doesn't bother me as long as i know what to look for. thanks in advance for all your help!!

what should my resistance/voltage values be for those? i checked the fuses last night and they both have .001 ohms of resistance, when i plug it in and turn on the front panel it'll stay on for a minute or so and turn off automatically, but i can't turn it off manually before that unless i reset the tv with the little reset button on one of the circuit boards. i also hear a hum from the coil, not sure if that helps

when i mean turn on i only mean the red light, not the tv itself, sorry for being unclear

Thanks! I'll measure it when I get home and let you know what I come up with

Sorry posted in the wrong section....

I just ran into the same problem with my TV last night... big fluctuation in power. If you can pass on any advice you've received or if you found a fix that would be great. If I find the problem on my end I'll make sure to do the same.

i measured across the coil last night from underneath at the mounting posts. going across the resistance would be pretty low, less than 5 ohms. diagonally the resistance was nearly a million ohms, which is expected going through all those windings, i assume. i was also checking power at random spots on the circuit boards. into the tv i had 110v(line voltage), and at most spots that was cut in half to 55-60v. is that normal? i'm thinking if i can't get a schematic or something then i'm going to have someone come in and repair it. any last thoughts?

Hey, just looking at the back of this info lable, I have the model number incorrect, it's: 60PP9910/17

    The chassis numer is: DPTZ410

hey guys, my problem is probably going to be different than most of yours... i had a tube leak fluid all over one of the main circuit boards, shorting it out. i called the tv place and they said that the part i needed was no longer available, so i'm pretty much out of luck. hope you guys have better luck with your tv's

I would check the line coil and horizontal and low voltage regulator transistors.

Your line coil is probaly shorted. I will try to locate some service info for that set to see what the actual parameters for that model are.I will get back to you on this matter.

Give me the Chassis number on that. I can probaly get you some schematics for you to go by when your checking the voltages.
