Enabling USB ports on Dell monitor

On my Dell monitor Is there a specific port in which to plug in the male-to-male USB cable so that I can enable the rest of the USB ports? If not, could my problem be underpower?

On the back side of the monitor, next to the power connector, you'll find a USB "B" connector (the boxy, square one) You need a USB A-to-B cable to connect your PC to the monitor, not a male-to-male (A-to-A) cable.

Hook that up, and you should get the boo-deep sound from your PC as it adds the new USB hub that's inside the monitor.

If this helps, please be sure to hit the "thumbs-up" button for me!

Bose 321 series 2 to computer

The best way is always via USB. That is how I connect my Bowers and Wilkins MM1 speakers, but you need the Drivers.

Bose has a section on setting up on their website.

How do I connect my Dell P2314T 23 inch Touchscreen Widescreen LCD Monitor to my Dell Optiplex 760 Core 2 Duo SFF ?

you need 2 connections: one for the viewscreen, and one for the touch screen. Then you need the drivers. It supports VGA so use the vga connection if you dont have display port or hdmi. Then, install a USB cable from the PC to the screen to enable touch (and the monitor's built in USB ports) and install the drivers from the dell website, then calibrate the screen.

On my Dell XPS 15, when I plug my printer into any of the 4 USB ports, I get a message that a power surge has diabled them

Might be something wrong with the cable. You can enable your USB ports by right clicking on Computer/My Computer, select properties and go to device manager. Select each usb root hub and go to properties and enable them.

Install external monitor from desktop to laptop

If your laptop does not have the 15 pin plug (VGA Port) then you will need to get some type of adapter that will make the monitor work. You probably have a DVI monitor.

You just need to make sure you get the correct type of adapter and make sure the ends that plug into the computer are correct such as male or female. For example think of the human male and female body parts when you look at adapters. The vga port on the computer is called a Female port, but the piece that plugs into it is called Male. It's the same with DVI ports.

I think you need a VGA Male to a DVI Female so below is a link to one and for $2.54 from Cable Wholesale.

My printer is plugged into one of the two usb ports at the front but I got a message saying it would run faster if it was plugged into a high speed port which when I checked it says I have 8 of but where...

Usually the main usb ports for the pc will be on the rear panel of the machine. If you feel safe to do so, switch the machine off and unplug from the power source, remove the side of the machine and touch a piece of bare metal on the chassis to remove any static build up in your body, then have a look around on your mainboard, try to trace the cable from the front usb connections to the mainboard, and see if there is a usb2 version of the socket which they are plugged into, swapping to this may solve your problem.

Hope this has been helpful.

Side USB ports

You need to connect a USB cable from your PC to the USB port under the monitor.
It is a standard usb cable used by printers with a flat plug on one end and a squareish plug on the other.
You should also have 2 more usb ports under the screen as well. There are normally 4 on Dell screens. 2 side, 2 under, and the one square plug to connect to the PC.
