Question about Hoover F7222-900 SteamVac Upright Vacuum
I have model number F7221-900 but Hoover said that F7222-900 was the same machine and my brushes quit working. The steam vac works as far as sucking up water and the ulphostery brushes spin when the attachment is hooked up but the main brushes underneath do no spin. If you grab them you can move the side to side but they are locked up when it comes to turning them all the way around. What is wrong?
We were having the same problem with the brushes not spinning.
How I fixed it:
I Removed the brush assembly by gently pulling on both sides of the assembly. I took a wide slotted screwdriver and inserted it into the slot (hole) that turns the brushes. At first it did not want to move. I GENTLY applied pressure by turning the screwdriver to get the gear to move and it began to move freely. I spun the gear a number of times using the screwdriver to make sure it was moving freely.
I reinstalled the brush assembly by aligning the gear that slides into the slot and gently pushing the clips back into place using equal pressure on both sides.
I plugged in the machine and the brushes now spin!
Good luck to everyone out there!
