Question about Arris SB5100 SURFboard DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem (50120900100)

Only 3 Lights Come on, Not online though.

Hello. On my Motorola Surfboard, I can plug it into one wall outlet and I will have the send, receive, and power lights on, but not the online light. If i plug it into another outlet, all 4 lights come on. For space reasons i cannot use the other outlet to move things. So my question is how or why is the cable outlet I need not allowing my modem to connect online? I changed the wall plate recently also, and the same outlet works with TV signal. Before you ask, yes I have a splitter and i already tested that. Thank you for your help.

Only 2 lights come on my SD5100. The Power, and the PC/Activity lights are the only ones that work. I temporarily took if off line (disconnected it) , then reconnect but it didn't work. Tried my standby SD5100 and it worked fine??

Is my regular modem now toasted?

That online light goes solid when your ISP completes the registration process of your modem. If this process fails, there are only 2 possible reasons. The first is your modem MAC address is not on your account with your ISP, which cannot be your case because it works on a different outlet. The second reason would be what is called ingress on the outlet. Ingress is caused by a bad outlet or more frequently a bad connector. Make sure inside your connector is clean and free of metal shavings. The problem you are describing is actually rare because usually if your having cable issues that cause a registration problem, you don't usually get a send light.

By the way, just because your tv works on that outlet doesn't mean your modem will. Your modem runs off RF frequencies that your TV doesn't come close to.

Motorola cable modem sb5101 the receive light blink an the same as the send light

If you are able to access the internet this is a normal operating status. These lights are just letting you know there is activity present with the modem and the modem is sending and receiving information with your provider.

My Motorola Sb5101 modem will not let me access the internet, the send light constantly flashes and i can't attain any internet connection.

If you have the following lights :
Power light - on
Receive light - flashing
Send light - flashing
Online light - off
PC/Activity - on
Standby - off
Then your Network Access is OFF - modem is successfuly registered but Network Access Control is disabled via DOCSIS configuration file.

Call your internet service provider....

No connectivity; constant blinking LED lights "Receive" and "Send"

Or you didn't pay your subscription on time and the ISP disabled your cable modem to send user traffic over the cable network. When both Send and Receive lights are blinking that is a visual aid that the modem is working fine, but the ISP disabled its access to the network (unpaid bill, legal issues, etc.)

Receive, send, and activity lights are all blinking but online light is off

Power Cycle the modem if the 4 lights do not go solid you would want to contact your cable provider to ensure signal is being received properly to modem.
