Unplug the router, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

This assumes that the address settings have not been changed in the router using the user interface. If they have, you will need to push the red reset button on the back of the router, but doing this resets all security settings back to "as shipped" settings.

What your experiencing is not uncommon. It happened to me several months ago. I had the same router and did everything you've done without any sucess. I then reinstalled the linksys software and that fixed everything.

Take your wireless laptop or device, and do a wireless scan in your yardk or in your car. If there is more than one, check the wireless channel number that your router is broadcasting on. If your router is on the same number, it will cut out. Once you find out what free channel number is, then you need to change that router to that number and that should take care of it.

Stop using the setup disk. It does not work. Connect to your router via a web browser to 192.168.1.1. Username blank, input your password and configure the router as normal.

How do i connect and get signal?

This is a common problem with Linksys wireless routers and primarily the WRT54G and WRT54GS. For some odd reason they all of a sudden go stupid and forgetful.

The easiest method to revive these routers is to go to the Linksys web site and get the automatic configuration download for your specific model of wireless router.

Hope this helps you

Bought linksy modem because of provider now wireless dont work

Hi Guys,

What needs to be defined first is the reason as to why it had stopped working. Before a suggestion is made, we first need to find out what the model number of your router is (there are many version of the linksys wrt54g router). Once that is defined i suggest you reset your router by doing the instructions as per this web page (cop and paste in your browser): http://technicallyeasy.net/2008/01/how-to-reset-linksys-wrt54g-wireless/

Once you have done that, the router should be set to factory default leaving you with a fresh clean slate. You can then proceed to configure the router for wireless security (if you need it) by following the steps here: http://technicallyeasy.net/2007/09/securing-linksys-wrt54g-wireless-router/

The instructions on these pages should help, however, if you face any uncertainties, please do feel free to get back to me and i shall attempt to cover whatever i can do to help the both of you out. Thank you.

Regards,

Technomancer.

Lost internet connection via cable modem-router-tower

Alright, start with the basic Gateway IP. http://192.168.0.1 That is what i use to access my router's (yeah, we run just a few more computers than normal people) Anyways, If that doesnt work, then the router has been changed beyond a normal spectrum of Ip configurations. Next step is to recontact Linksys and Let them know directly that the IP Address for accessing the router is not working. Meaning you have no Access to the router at all. Almost all routers use the same base access router ip setup. Its rare to find different unless you are like a few people, who find they need to run at least 2 or more routers on the same internet connection because of too many computers.

Otherwise, follow this link:

Router burnt out

If you reset both the computer and the router at exactly the same time it should work but if it doesn't you most likely need a new router. Hope this helped =)
