thanks - just tried it (as i have done several times) - it comes back saying "unsupported operating system" - what's up with that?

  • piperwings Jan 21, 2008

spent over 2 hours on this thing. 1st it said to delete framework hotfix - in programs - i did. then i tried installing media 11 - same error message "unsupported" - then i tried doing an "update rollup 2 for window xp media center" - still "unsupported". i give up - i think dell, just didn't install whatever stuff is needed. i went to media - can still watch tv, record, etc. - that's fine. still can't view .wmv.

Try removing the memory module and clean the memory with a soft brush. Clean the slots on the motherboard and place the memory again. Make sure the memory is placed properly. (Both switchs on the memory slot should be holding the memory module in place)

If not working try placing memory in another memory slot on the motherboard.

If still not working, try swapping memory with a computer that has same type of memory.
Try the memory on another computer.
Try the memory of the other computer in the Dell Dimension. By doing this you'll determine waht causes the problem.

Well, you may still have an anomoly even if you have Norton Antivirus on the system.

Restore to an earlier time when the machine was functioning, and you may be pleasantly surprised on being able to open email files and .mp3 or .wmv files.

Good luck to you.

How can I attach a file to e mail in juno web mail

If you are Juno member, you can attach pictures, spreadsheets, word processing documents, audio clips, video clips, or any other type of computer file to the email messages you send.
If you have never sent a file attachment before, you may want to review Juno's list of important facts about attachements before you send out your message.
You can attach files by Dragging and dropping them onto the write screen by copying and pasting them or by clicking attach files.

Rip the files in media player to .MP3, then send the MP3 files as an attachment (One or 2 at a time is best)
Media player defaults to .WMV for ripping, you you'll need to change the file format default in Media Player before ripping the files.

The fiel is most likely too big. Try compressing the file  before attaching, or use a large file send service (there are many free ones available). Regards -- Joe

Sending attachments in Outlook 2003

Try saving the document to your local drive first, then send the file as an attachment. When the file is opened from your Outlook, it resides only as a temp file while you are viewing it, then to try to send that temp file, it causes issues with outlook. Save the file first, then send it, but don't try to send the file from the temp view whilst opening the file that is still in another e-mail

922 Printer Scanned File Email Attachment Problem

The simplest and fastest option is to compress the document with either WinZip or PKZip. That compression makes the software ignore the attachment. Both programs are pretty universal so that recipients would be able to uncompress the files at the other end. You can download the programs for free from Just search their site for those compression applications. If you are on a Mac, you can obtain Stuffit to do the same thing.

Good luck!
