Re: kingston512MB

Have you ever tried of inserting it to other computers?

If it is still not detected, one way or another, it could be your flash drive is already not working.
Maybe the last time you have defragmented it causes the drive to be destroyed for some reasons such as computer hardware problem.

If it is now detected, check if you can still recover the data. Your last option will be to format your drive so you can start new. Im sorry but in my experience you cannot anymore recover the data if it is already gone.

I can't open the program to see what files are in the external drive

Ejecting does not remove or turn off the power it merely lets the computer know that the device is not to be used until plugged in again.
If the file format is not recognized by your operating system, format the drive and install your computer's file system on it.

My kingston 2 gb flash disk is not recognized, how can i fix it?

Please follow the below steps to fix your problem

Connect your flash drive to your computer using an available USB port. If your flash drive is not recognized, you'll usually receive an error that says "USB Device Not Recognized."

Click "Start" > "Control Panel" and open the system configuration by double-clicking the "System" icon.

Navigate to the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager.

Click the "+" next to "Disk Drives" and locate your USB flash drive. A question mark icon should be shown to the left of the label. Right-click the device name and select "Uninstall."

Open the "Action" menu at the top of the Device Manager and select "Scan for hardware changes." This will scan your PC for any new devices. Because you uninstalled the flash drive, it will be detected as a new device and the drivers will be reinstalled.

Click "Start" > "My Computer" and look for your flash drive. If this process was successful, your flash drive should now show up under My Computer as a storage disk.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.

Why doesnt it show on computer when i plug it in

What kind of flash drive and computer are u working with? Let me know and I may be able to give u a more accurate answer. Try inserting another device in that USB port and check to see if ur computer is recognizing it in your device manager. Click on Start Tab then Go To Settings , Control Panel Then Click on System Icon , Then Click on the Hardware Tab and Click on Device Manager, scroll down to see if there are any yellow question marks or flags? Leave that Device manager window open and try to re insert your flash drive again and see what response u get?

I bent the metal usb connector on my 4gb cruzer and the light flashes one time and system wont recognize device.

I had the same situation happen to me. My flash drive was in my computer on my coffee table and my dog tripped over the power wire for the laptop and it hit the floor bending the flash drive to about a 22 degree angle. I gently grasped the metal portion that inserts into the usb port and slowly bent it back to the original position and it worked fine. Two weeks later my dog ate the damn thing!! If you attempt to bend it back, make sure that you do not use pliers or any tool that may crush the metal portion or bend it out of shape. If you have an old computer or a usb port on a wire or hub, insert it, and bend it by hand. Good luck and I hope this helps.

My U3 Smart SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2.0GB USB Drive Not Recognized

We can fix it -- and recover the data (provided it is recoverable -- which it generally is). If we don't get your data back, we ship the drive back to you and you pay nothing. We've been recovering data for over 16 years and are successful about 85% of the time.
