If you are using the exact same DVD's by make and size then the drive is probably getting worn. If different DVD's then they are probably lower quality and not compatible with your drive

The DVD Drive iteself may be bad. After installing/reinstalling the drivers, there are only two things left to check and that is if the driver was installed correctly (device manager- check to see if there is a "?" mark next to the DVD drive) or you can buy another drive and install. A new drive should take cae of your issue.

Yes, it has. You can't view DVD's because for that you need specialized codecs or media players. 
To view DVD's install VLC -   http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
To burn dvd disks that can be played on a regular dvd player you need to programs: one to convert your video file - i use

Download the drivers onto a flash drive or have them burned to a CDROM/DVD and bring them to your Acer and upload/point to them on the flash/cdrom/dvd, should fix you right up.

Download Nero burning software and try with that

1. check ur dvd can burn dvd or just read dvd 2. your burning software my not compatible with yor optical drive

You need to check that with blank DVD's you are using compatible with your drive.Because the DVD's may work with your extranal drive but not with your builting drive. If this doen't slove the problem I would recommend using a different burning software other than "sonic record now" and "vista o/s Built-in dvd burner".

go and try to open in safe mode .
restart >press F8.
see whether it work's..if not go to the bios setup and see the configuration and sellect . restart > delete . (for bios setup..).

If you have windows> just right click on the file , then choose send to> Drive:E CDRW or DVDRW. Then click on the balloon that's gonna pop up on the lower right corner of your screen.
