Question about LG CU500 Cellular Phone
Is anyone having USB connections problems with using the TU550 as a modem for internet access? A few weeks ago, I installed the software, drivers, etc, onto my laptop, but after a short while, the laptop rebooted itself, and went into chkdsk, and then safe mode and then it rebooted, and 1/2 started, and on and on and on... I ended up having to re-install windows and all my other downloads.
I have tried this on 2 different laptops (running XP home), and have tried different TU550's ( we have 10 of them at my work), and the same issue occurs.
I purchased a new TU550 last Friday, and other than a few cosmetic changes, it seems to be pretty much the same as the others we have. I had thought that the software supplied with this newermodel may have fixed this issue, but alas, that was not to be the case. I installed it all, and then.... bang... off went my laptop again.
Prior to working out that this was the reason for the laptops misbehaving, I had sent one of them to be looked at back at the suppliers, and they had no problems at all. It was only after buying the new TU last week, that I managed to whittle the problems down to the phone or its connections.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
First, un-install all software for this phone then:
- Install the USB driver
- Connect the phone and USB cable into your USB port, wait for the computer to detect the phone, if it goes into USB mass storage mode, exit so your computer can detect the phone's modem.
- Now install the LG Internet Kit while the phone is connected to the USB port and it should already be exit out of the USB storage mode.
- Run the LG Internet Kit program, add new modem, select LG Modem, add new connection, select your country and carrier, click connect.
Good luck! This method worked for me, otherwise just manually create a dial-up connection in Network Connection folder and enter the dial-up code for your carrier, no need for any user name or password.
