Question about Sony I/M CMT-CP1 98 FRENCH Shelf System

1 Answer

Sony CMT CP1 Right hand speaker output very noisy, humming, crackling

My Sony shelf system has just developed a problem on the right hand speaker output, it makes a loud noise, humming, crackling sound even with the volume turned down. I've swapped speakers and it stays on the RH channel so I know the speaker is OK. Will take a look inside the rear and see if I can see anything obvious, has anyone got any suggestions on what it might be?

Re: Sony CMT CP1 Right hand speaker output very noisy,...

It sounds to me like you both are having a problem with a capacitor going bad. some capacitors act as a noise filter and it sounds like you both have a bad one. If you are any good with a volt-ohm meter that reads capacitors you should check them to make sure they are at their proper values which will be posted on the capacitor. then replace it. if you dont know how to use a v-o meter then take it to a shop and have them replace it

No sound in my Sony CMT EH15

Check the speaker wiring for possible stray wire shorts against one another on the back, if okay! suspect a bad audio output chip inside stereo.

My sony cmt-nex3 has the standby light flashing, but when i press the on butto, it doesn't turn on

Check the back for speaker wire shorts, next! there may be a short in the audio output chip or surrounding parts in the stereo, this is more suited for a technician to sort out.

My Sony CMT-HP7 will not play any of my CDs. It says reading for a long time and then tells me that there is no CD and skips to the next CD... which it don't recognize.

Usually deleting the Upper and Lower Filters in the Registry resolves this issue. To do that follow this.
1. Run Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. Delete Upper and Lower Filters on the right hand side pane.
4. Exit and restart.

I have problem with my sony cmt-cp1 model. NO DISC

If this problem occurs only at this cd/dvd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case this don't solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

You should be aware of the power output of the shelf system and at what ohms. Ex.--100watts @ 8 ohms. Which I think that is the rating of this unit. This means you will get 100 watts of power on the front left side and the front right side, if you hook up one 8 ohm speaker per side.
